Boarding Bulletin

This week we have had the pleasure of hosting four Year 8 students from Pymble Ladies College in Sydney. Our Year 8 boarders, Ella, Maegan, Sofia and Roseanne are now enjoying the hospitality of their buddy’s families in Sydney and attending school as a Sydney day student.

To celebrate the end of National Boarding Week, last Saturday the Boarding House hosted 1971 Old Collegians and the McDonald family for a high tea to honour passed 1971 Boarding Captain Janet ‘Meme’ McDonald. We pass on our special thanks and gratitude to the McDonald family for their donation of the painting which is now hanging in our Boarding Reception in honour of Meme.

Our boarders who were privileged to work at and attend this event enjoyed hearing stories of boarding in the original Boarding House located on the corner of Sandgate Road and Bayview Terrace and now have an appreciation of being able to wash their hair in a warm shower whenever they wish – not once a week outside with cold water bowls!

It is with a mix of sadness and excitement that I advise our Year 6 to 8 Boarding Supervisor, Magdel Langhein, has tendered her resignation and will depart Clayfield College at the end of this term.

We are extremely grateful to Magdel for her support and dedication to our boarders over the past 5 and a half years, and wish Magdel, and her husband Lionel, all the very best for their return to South Africa to be closer to their growing family.

Good luck to our runners who will be competing at the QGSSSA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, the whole Boarding House will be there cheering you on.
