All the best for Exam Block!

As Exam Block approaches for students in Years 10, 11 and 12, we’d like to take this opportunity to share some helpful tips and reminders to support you during this busy, and sometimes stressful time.

Exam Preparation Tips and Tricks

Create a study schedule

Study plan templates are available from your Head of Year. Use these tools to structure your time effectively and ensure a balanced approach to your study load.

Prioritise sleep

Sleep is essential for memory, concentration, and cognitive function. While it may be tempting to study late into the night, adequate rest will help you retain information and perform at your best.

Fuel your body

Just like an athlete, your brain performs best when it's well nourished. Eat regular, balanced meals and healthy snacks to maintain energy and focus.

Keep moving

Take short walks, stretch, or go for a run. Regular movement helps reduce stress, improves your mood, and refreshes your mind.

Practice mindfulness

A few minutes of mindfulness or deep breathing can make a big difference. It helps manage stress, improve concentration, and regulate emotions.

Stay hydrated

Drinking enough water supports cognitive function and can help stabilise your emotions. Don’t underestimate the power of a few extra glasses of water.

Stay socially connected

Spend time with friends face-to-face and try to limit social media use during Exam Block. Why not quiz a friend while going for a walk?

Avoid last-minute cramming

Building knowledge takes time. Stick to your study plan and trust the preparation you've done, remember, exams are a marathon, not a sprint.

Use positive self-talk

Encourage yourself with affirmations. A confident mindset can make a real difference in how you approach your exams.

Ask for help

If you're feeling overwhelmed, reach out to your teachers, Head of Year, or the College Counsellor. You are not alone; we’re all here to support you.

Wishing all students in Years 10, 11 and 12 the very best of luck! While studying is important, so is your wellbeing. Remember to take care of yourself—your mental health is key to academic success.

Let your light shine!
