A note from Mr Jackson

2026 Prep Information Morning

Saturday 24 May

Thanks to staff and parents who joined our 2026 Prep Information Morning on Saturday. It was great to begin the process of building relationships with the incoming Prep parents and children, as well as share a little of the Rosanna Primary story.

National Sorry Day Healing Ceremony

Monday 26 May

Leaders and First Nations students gathered at Malahang Reserve on Monday for the Sorry Day Healing Ceremony arranged by Banyule Council. They joined with students from nine other schools to listen to speakers, participate in a smoking ceremony, mark the significance of the day with the lowering of the flags and then watch and even learn some cultural dancing! It proved a time to reflect and acknowledge the impact of the removal of First Nation’s children from families in what has become known as the Stolen Generation.

Students have continued to explore the theme for National Reconciliation Week, 'Bridging Now to Next' in classrooms. This theme encourages Australians to reflect on the past, learn from the present, and work towards a more unified and respectful future. It highlights the ongoing connection between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians, and the importance of building positive relationships for the benefit of all Australians

Preps Galivanting on the Oval

from Today

Prep students have taken another step towards independence today by visiting the oval. Teachers have supported them with a social story and explicit lessons on the process to ensure they are safe and understand their responsibilities. Today they were eager to explore the GaGa Pit, the sandpit and simply kicking the footy.

Working Bee

Saturday 31 May

There has been lots of discussion about house prices and property values in the media recently. The Junior School Council have acted and have sought the construction and addition of two cubby houses to the playground spaces. A special thanks to those involved in their arrival via the Barrbunin Beek Gathering Space and Parade College.

We’re hopeful for some Working Bee volunteers from 9:00am on Saturday to help prepare the foundations and then construct the cubbies in the lower playground. Other tasks listed for the day include the shifting of mulch and clearing of drains.

All are welcome to attend whether it is for half an hour or more. A BBQ at 12 noon will restore us all after a busy morning. Bring along some sturdy shoes, a wheelbarrow if you have one and an eagerness to improve the grounds here at school.

Painting Chandler Hall

from Monday 2 June

From Monday of next week, we look forward to dressing up Chandler Hall with some painting. This will include the storerooms, the music room as well as the canteen. We are grateful for the flexibility of painters that has seen this project move forward, as well as the TheirCare Team and staff that have enabled this freshening up of one of our most utilised spaces.

Divisional Cross Country

Tuesday 3 June

We wish our runners the best as they participate in the Divisional Cross Country Carnival! Just qualifying for this level is a story of excellence! Well done to all who will represent us.

Celebrating Student Positive Behaviour Thursday 5 May

Everyone is excited that on Thursday 5 May students will celebrate the collaborate completion of the Values puzzle four times by having a film festival.

Parents are asked to discuss this celebration with their child and decide which movie they wish to view. A wide range of PG and G movies are available and students and parents must book their movie on Qkr!. Those students who do not wish to attend or do not choose a movie will be busy in the library completing some mindful activities such as colouring, drawing and even some meditations.

Reminder About Upcoming Student Free Days

I hope parents have in their diaries the following dates. No students are at school on these dates as teachers will be participating in professional learning and focussing on classroom teaching and learning responsibilities;

  • Friday 6 June Curriculum Day
  • Monday 9 June Public Holiday
  • Tuesday 10 June Professional Practice Day

TheirCare will be operating a program for those who wish to engage with them on the Friday and Tuesday.
