Child Safety at Moama Anglican Grammar
Child Safe Standard 4 – Celebrating Cultural Safety During Reconciliation Week
Following on from updates in recent newsletters, this edition highlights the steps we are taking to uphold Child Safe Standard 4. This standard focuses on the importance of creating a culturally safe environment for all students, with a particular emphasis on respecting and celebrating diversity.
As we mark National Reconciliation Week, it is especially timely to reflect on our commitment to ensuring that our First Nations students feel safe, respected and supported. This commitment extends to all members of our school community, including students from culturally, linguistically, religiously and ability-diverse backgrounds. We are dedicated to fostering a school environment where every student feels a strong sense of belonging.
Standard 4: Equity is upheld and diverse needs are taken into account.
Some of the ways we meet this standard are:
- Our school celebrates diversity and our students are provided with opportunities to participate to their full potential (e.g. Individual Learning/Support Plans, Cultural Awareness Activities).
- Our students have access to information and support, and know how to report a concern if needed (e.g., Child Safe posters are placed regularly around the school with contact details).
- Our school’s leaders and staff recognise the need to be aware of what may prevent our students from disclosing abuse and how to respond (e.g. regular staff Child Safe PD).
- Our school’s leaders and staff identify and respect the diverse needs, abilities and backgrounds of our students and understand the value of treating them fairly.
- Our staff are provided with information about the factors that increase a student’s vulnerability to harm (e.g. regular staff Child Safe PD).
- Our staff adapt activities, curriculum, and school services to ensure that all students feel included (e.g., differentiation, Individual Learning Plans and targeted curriculum).

The NSW Child Safe Standards were established to help schools go beyond compliance and actively prioritise the safety and wellbeing of all students. At Moama Anglican Grammar, we take this responsibility with the utmost seriousness. Ensuring a safe, supportive environment for every student remains our highest priority.
