Opens Rugby League

Congratulations to our Open Rugby League Team who won the Regional Championships in the Allan Tongue 10’s competition in Tamworth. The boys won the local competition late in Term 1, then beat St Catherine's College and Farrar Agricultural College in two very tight and hard-fought games at the Plain Street playing fields in Tamworth.

The team was captained by School Captain Jackson B and many of these boys do not play regular rugby league which highlights this great win. This win will be a great memory for the senior students in their final year at St Joseph's, they will remember long after they finish school.

NSWCCC Boys Rugby League

On Friday and Saturday May 23 & 24 Casey M – Open Boys and Harlem L and Jackson F – U15 Boys will represent NNSW in Sydney at the NSWCCC Boys Rugby League Championships. Girls Rugby League

The U14 and U16 Girls also played in the Allan Tongue 10’s finals in Tamworth. The U14 played some very competitive games, beating St Catherine’s and then losing to Oxley High School by one try. The U16’s beat Muswellbrook High School and then lost to Oxley High School in the grand final. The girls had a most enjoyable day and have continued to improve under the coaching and management of Ms Watkins and Mrs Eveleigh. A special thank you to Leah Ollerton for her coaching and the support of our senior girls who have been excellent mentors.

NSWCCC Representatives

We can proudly announce that we have added to our very prestigious list of NSWCCC representatives over the past two weeks. Congratulations to Summer D and Sophie H who were selected in the U18 Girls Rugby League Team on Tuesday. This was following their impressive performance at the NSWCCC competition representing NNSW. Despite the wet conditions the competition was condensed to a one day event and relocated to Elderslie, Sydney. Congratulations on your selection.

Congratulations to Macey C who has been selected in the U18’s NSWCCC Girls Rugby 7’s team. This is an outstanding achievement amidst many talented rugby players from across the NSW Catholic schools. Notably, Macey has been recently selected in the Open Girls NSWCCC Touch Football team and represented NNSW at the NSWCCC Rugby League competition in the U18 girls team. Macey is a talented sportswoman who excels and is committed to a variety of sports.

7/8 Girls 2 - There were lots of tries against Carinya and Tamworth and they also finished 4th in their pool.

9 Boys - The team played well as a unit and won their pool, they moved onto the SF where they went down by one try to our own Year 10 SJA team!

10 Boys - A great day for the Year 10 boys, who had some good round games to progress to the finals and then onto win the GF for the division!

9 Girls - The girls got better and stronger as a team as the day went on! They won their pool and went onto win the GF in their division!

10 Girls - The girls had a fun day playing together and came 3rd in their pool.
