Wise Up! Lessons from Proverbs

This term in chapel services, we have been on a quest for wisdom.  Together we have journeyed through the Book of Proverbs, uncovering timeless wisdom for living rightly in God's world. Each week, we focused on a different theme:

Justice - Living wisely includes acting justly. "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.” — Proverbs 31:8

Choosing Friends Wisely - The company we keep shapes who we become.“Walk with the wise and become wise.” — Proverbs 13:20

The Power of Words -  Words can build up or tear down. Proverbs reminds us that our speech carries great influence: “The tongue has the power of life and death.” — Proverbs 18:21

Listening-  Wisdom begins with attentive ears. As Proverbs teaches: “Let the wise listen and add to their learning.” — Proverbs 1:5

In Primary school, it has been wonderful to see classes creatively explore these topics in our class-led chapels—with skits and even experiments with toothpaste!

We pray that the seeds of wisdom planted this term will continue to grow in our students — helping them to choose what is right, speak with kindness, listen well, and build friendships that reflect God’s love.

Bridging Now to Next

On Thursday 29th May, our school community gathered for a special National Reconciliation Week service, reflecting on the theme “Bridging Now to Next.”

National Reconciliation Week, held from 27 May to 3 June, marks two key events in Australian history—the 1967 referendum and the 1992 Mabo decision. This year also commemorates 25 years since the Walk for Reconciliation, the largest political demonstration in our nation's history.

Through stories, scripture, and prayer, we explored what it means to be bridge builders—people who take steps toward healing and unity.

A highlight was the unveiling of a whole-school bridge display, with each class contributing reflections on current and future actions for reconciliation. These were written on leaves featuring artwork by Bree Buttenshaw, a proud Kalkadoon woman.

May God bless you and your family.
