Term 2, Week 7
Dear Parents and Carers,
As part of our family engagement activity, we hosted a Soirée Night on Monday evening for 17 of our talented students who have been taking private music lessons. The performances included guitar, piano, drums, violetta, and vocals. The students performed with confidence and passion, and it was wonderful to see so many proud families and staff supporting them. Thank you to our performers; Saishvi Narayanan, Yanuli Nadula Liyanage, Angelo Fernando, Leia Mathew, Tyler and Tivon Liyanage, Reuben Miranda, Sayumi Abeyrathne, Lily Mediarambe, Liam Mathew, Ella Yaqo, Chloe DiPierdomenico, Delon Al Qas Alyas, Ryan Seneviratne, Joshua Jinto and Oliver Balazs. A special thank you to our very talented and dedicated music teachers Mrs Balazs and Mr Lazarus for organising the evening and Mr Cliff for his special apperance.
Congratulations to our students who represented our school in the Division Athletics on Wednesday. We had 10 students compete, 1 first place winner, Josephine Ho and Chloe Barnes in 4th place and Lucia Giampietro in11th place. They will be progressing to the Northern Metropolitan Regionals. Thank you to Mr Whitty and to our parents Domenico Giampietro, Tony and Alexandra Ho and Brendan Barnes for attending and supporting our students.
This week we began our School Review process. As part of this important reflection and growth phase, our external reviewers spent time speaking with parents, students, and staff to gain valuable insights into our school culture and the learning that takes place here each day. The review encourages schools to reflect on their current practices, what’s working well and what could be improved. Having external reviewers offers an unbiased view of the school. They bring experience from other settings and can identify strengths and areas for growth that may not be obvious from within the school community. The outcomes of a review provides us with a clear direction for future planning and decision-making. It ensures that improvement efforts are purposeful, data-informed, and aligned with best practices in teaching and learning.
Our Year 6 students represented our school at the annual Winter Sports Gala Day today. This is an opportunity for our students to showcase their sporting talents and participate in Football, Soccer and Netball tournaments against other local schools. All our students represented our school with great pride. Well done to all our competitors and ongratulations to our girls netball team and boys soccer for winning their grand finals.
Due to the colder weather, our popular Super Dooper Tuesday will be put on hold until Term 4. In the meantime, we’ll be selling sour straps and pythons each Tuesday instead. All proceeds will go towards supporting our Year 6 Graduation celebrations. Thank you to all our wonderful parent volunteers who continue to give their time to help make these fundraising efforts possible, we truly appreciate your support!
All schools across Australia are mandated to collect data for the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD). This annual process requires schools to identify students receiving adjustments and support, as defined by the Disability Discrimination Act 1992. The data collection helps ensure that schools are meeting the individual needs of students and supports the ongoing development of inclusive practices. It counts the number of students who receive additional adjustments or support at school so that all students have the opportunity to learn and succeed. It also informs government planning and funding to better support students with diverse learning needs. Parents and carers are not required to provide any additional information, and the data collected is de-identified to maintain privacy. School Closure Days this term: Monday 9th June and Tuesday 10th June.
