Welcome to Week 4, Term 2

I hope all our families had a lovely Mother’s Day, and that it was a special time to celebrate and honour the incredible women in our lives. Whether shared with family or remembered quietly, these moments remind us of the love, strength and care that nurture our community.

Last week, I had the opportunity to visit Riverbanks College, a contemporary new school that includes a co-located disability unit on site. It was an inspiring visit, offering a glimpse into the kinds of inclusive and forward-thinking opportunities we could provide for our own students when our new site is developed. The design and planning at Riverbanks were both future-focused, and it affirmed for me just how powerful well-designed learning environments can be in supporting every learner.

We are also moving closer to confirming the location of ournew Catholic Special School, with several meetings now taking place to ensure we secure the most appropriate and accessible site for our students and families. This is a significant step in shaping the future of Catholic Special Schools, and I look forward to sharing more as plans progress.

Another highlight from last week was attending the Women & Leadership Australia Symposium. I was one of ten invited guests representing Catholic Education South Australia, among more than 100 attendees. It was a powerful day filled with real stories of courage and resilience. Hearing the presenters speak honestly about their leadership journeys was incredibly moving and motivating.

Looking ahead, I will soon be travelling to London to attend a Special Educational Needs conference, a wonderful opportunity to connect with international educators and explore best practices from across the globe. Following the conference, I will take a period of two weeks Long Service Leave. As previously communicated, Cathy Sires will be the Acting Principal during this time, and I thank Cathy for taking this on.
