Tarenit Senior College Students Make Their Voices Heard at Wynspeak 2025

This term, a group of passionate and courageous students from Tarneit Senior College took to the stage as part of the Wynspeak Public Speaking Competition 2025—an event that brings together secondary students from across the western suburbs to showcase the power of spoken word, original ideas, and compelling storytelling.

Representing Tarneit at various heats, our students rose to the challenge and delivered speeches that were not only thoughtful and articulate, but also deeply personal and relevant to today’s world.

At the Hoppers Crossing Secondary College heat, Hamnah Chaudhary displayed great confidence as she delivered her speech to a supportive audience. Meanwhile, at the MacKillop College heat, Hannah Patel and Simarpreet Sangha represented Tarneit with pride. Together, they tackled a competitive field and impressed the audience with their delivery, poise, and unique perspectives. Sharing the stage, they demonstrated the strength of student voice at Tarneit and the importance of speaking up about issues that matter.

Back at Tarneit Senior College, we also held our own heat, where Ina Maota and Sobiya Fatima took to the mic with confidence and charisma. Their speeches tackled meaningful topics and sparked reflection among the audience. It was a proud moment for the school to witness these students using their voices to advocate, inform, and inspire.

Across each venue, our students demonstrated not only strong public speaking skills, but also courage and commitment. Preparing for a speech and standing before a crowd is no small feat—and each of them embraced the opportunity with determination and heart.

Entering wynspeak was a great learning  experience. Getting up to speak was nerve-wracking at first, but it pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me grow in different skills, and had me gain some new one's aswell. Thank you for  all the support from teacher and peers.Sobiya Fatima

We are incredibly proud of Hamnah, Simarpreet, Hannah, Ina and Sobiya for representing Tarenit with excellence. Wynspeak provided a platform for them to grow as communicators, leaders, and thinkers. As a college, we remain committed to nurturing student voice and look forward to seeing our young speakers continue to thrive in future opportunities.

Wynspeak is a valuable opportunity for students to build confidence, develop their public speaking skills, and express their views on topics they are passionate about. All participating students demonstrated courage, creativity, and professionalism throughout the competition.

We congratulate all our speakers for their outstanding efforts and thank the staff and families who supported them along the way.

Congratulations to all involved!

We look forward to seeing even more students get involved in 2026!

Year 10 Debaters Win in a Heated Battle of Words!

Congratulations to our talented Year 10 debaters — Simar, Sauviri, and Sauwarna — who recently represented our school in an interschool debate held at Williamstown. Competing against Caroline Chisholm Catholic College, the team was challenged with a secret topic revealed just one hour before the debate: "The government should set 22 as the minimum age to pursue a career in professional and e-sports."

With limited preparation time, our students rose to the occasion with confidence, clarity, and a strong command of persuasive argument. They delivered a compelling case that impressed the adjudicators, ultimately securing victory for our school.

Well done to Simar, Sauviri, and Sauwarna for their hard work, teamwork, and outstanding performance in this exciting and intellectually demanding event!
