Principal's Patch

Dear Parents,
Welcome back to term 3, it’s hard to believe we’ve already reached the halfway point of the school year! I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful school community for another fantastic first semester. I hope we are all refreshed and ready for more learning, growth, and fun. And what a win the mighty Queensland had in Game 3 of the State of Origin.
Facilities Update
We’re pleased to share that our Performing Arts Centre (PAC) has recently undergone an internal repaint and is looking fantastic—fresh, bright, and ready for continued student use.
In addition, significant works will take place over the school holidays and into the first two weeks of next term, with the full replacement of the F Block roof. This long-awaited upgrade will make a substantial difference, especially after ongoing issues with leaks over the past year. During this time, several of our Year 1 and 2 classes will temporarily relocate, and I sincerely thank these students and teachers for their flexibility. Please note that due to asbestos removal as part of these works, there will be no access to school grounds during the first week of the holidays. PCYC has also made alternative arrangements for parts of their vacation care program, which they have communicated directly with families.
We have also recently upgraded many components of our senior playground to meet all safety standards and ensure a safe play environment for our students.
Thank You to Our Amazing Staff
I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the dedicated staff who recently took time away from their own families to accompany our Year 5 and 6 students on camp. We truly appreciate the extra effort and care you put in to make these experiences possible for our students. Camps are such valuable opportunities for growth, independence, and connection, and they simply wouldn’t happen without your commitment. A big congratulations also to our students, who represented our school with pride and respect throughout both camps!
Farewell and Best Wishes
At the end of last term, we said goodbye to two valued members of our staff. Mrs Simpson (Year 3F) left us to take up an exciting promotional role at St Andrews, and Ms Furruya (Japanese) is moving back home to the Toowoomba region. We thank both teachers for the care, dedication, and expertise they have brought to our school community. They have made a lasting impact on their students and colleagues, and we will certainly miss them here at Palm Beach. We wish them every success and happiness in their new chapters.
Regional Music Camp
A group of our instrumental music students attended the South East Region's Regional Music Camp. They represented our school with pride, and their final night performances were nothing short of outstanding. It was truly remarkable to hear such high-quality music from students who are only 11 or 12 years old—the standard of the pieces they performed was exceptionally impressive.
Celebrating Student Achievement – Semester One Reports
Semester One report cards were sent home end of last term. Congratulations to all students who have worked hard and exceeded their own expectations—your efforts have truly paid off. A special mention to those who have achieved outstanding results in effort and behaviour; these are qualities that reflect a strong commitment to learning and being a respectful, responsible member of our school community. Well done to all—we are proud of you!
Important Reminder – E-Bikes on School Grounds
A reminder to all families that e-bikes must not be ridden on school grounds under any circumstances. For the safety of all students, staff, and visitors, we ask that e-bikes be walked prior to entering the school gates. Even better, we encourage e-bikes to be left outside the gates altogether. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school environment safe.
Important Safety Reminder – Playground Access Before and After School
A reminder to all parents that playgrounds are out of bounds before and after school, including for younger siblings. This is an important safety measure, as playgrounds are not supervised by staff during these times. We appreciate your support in helping us keep all our students safe.
Student Newsletter
We are very excited to announce the release of our first ever student newsletter – a fantastic initiative from the students, for the students! This project is a wonderful celebration of student voice and creativity, and we are so proud of the team who brought it to life. A very special thank you to Grace in Year 6, who was the driving force behind this brilliant idea, and to Mrs Gray, whose support and guidance helped bring the newsletter from concept to production. We can’t wait for everyone to read it – this is a truly exciting development for our school community. Keep an eye on Class Dojo to view the newsletter!
