'Together Everyone Achieves More'

We’ve really been enjoying putting our newsletters together and sharing some of the great things happening in our classrooms and around the school. It’s been a lovely way to stay connected with our families and community.

It's an exciting time for the Cowwarr team as it continues to grow! Over the past two weeks, we’ve welcomed five new students to our school. We are so pleased to be welcoming even more students, families, and friends to the team. It’s such a positive time for our little school, and we’re now proud to say we have 22 students enrolled at Cowwarr!

Attitudes to School Survey

This week, our students took part in the annual Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS). We’d like to thank them for taking the time to complete it thoughtfully and honestly. The feedback they provide is incredibly valuable, as it helps us better understand how our students feel about their learning environment. As always, responses are anonymous, and the insights we gain help guide us in creating a supportive, engaging, and positive school experience for every student.

Semester 2 Reports

Our teachers are currently beginning the process of writing student reports. This semester, you may notice that progression points look a little different compared to previous years.

This is because schools are now required to fully implement the updated Victorian Curriculum 2.0 for English and Mathematics. With these changes, some progression points may appear in different places than you might expect based on past reports.

Please know that these changes reflect updates in how the curriculum is structured, not a reflection of your child’s effort, growth, or potential.

We understand that any shift in reporting can raise questions, and we are here to support you in understanding what these changes mean for your child’s learning journey. If you have any questions or would like to talk through your child’s report, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Athletics

Congratulations to all of our Cowwarr students on a fantastic effort at the Sale Rural Cluster Athletics Carnival on Friday! We’re incredibly proud to share that Cowwarr finished 3rd overall in the school competition. A brilliant achievement for our small but mighty team.

A huge thank you to all the students who came along, gave it their best, and cheered on their teammates. It was a wonderful day filled with team spirit, determination, and some outstanding individual performances.

A special shout-out to Harley and Brylie, who were both named Age Champions in their respective groups, what an amazing accomplishment! We also had a number of students place in various events, and we’re proud of each and every one of you for your effort and sportsmanship.

Well done, Team Cowwarr!

Statewide Principal Conference

Next week, I’ll be attending the Statewide Principal Conference at the Melbourne Convention Centre. This two-day event will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, and I’ll be taking part in a range of workshops and listening to guest speakers focused on educational leadership and school improvement.

A big thank you to Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Edtmaier, who will be looking after Room 2 in my absence.

At our school, we often talk to students about the importance of lifelong learning and that includes us as adults, too! Just like our students, we continue to learn and grow, and professional learning opportunities like this help us to bring fresh ideas and practices back to our school.

Some of the workshops that I will be participating in include:

  • Newport Gardens Primary School: Strengthening Reading Through Phonics Instruction.
  • Camperdown College and Woolsthorpe Primary School: Implementation of a structured literacy approach in F-2.
  • Curriculum and Teaching Practice Division: Maximising school improvement with VTLM 2.0.

Thank you to all of the staff for supporting me in taking this time away from school to deepen my knowledge and strengthen my practice, all with the shared goal of continually improving teaching and learning outcomes for our students.

Fundraising

Our recent ‘Footy Gate’ day was a fantastic success, thank you to everyone who helped make it happen! We have another exciting opportunity coming up on Saturday, 21st June, and we’ll be looking for volunteers who can spare an hour or so to support this important fundraiser. Every little bit of help makes a big difference!

Looking ahead, Cowwarr Primary School will be hosting a Disco Night on Friday, 27th June at the Cowwarr Hall. The event is open to all primary aged children in the area and will run from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. It’s sure to be a fun-filled evening and a great way for local kids to connect and enjoy themselves. We hope to see lots of friendly faces there!
