Sustainability at SJV

This week in our garden we prepared the beds near the art room.  We will be planting more broad beans which the students from Year 1.2 have grown from seed.  Our garden helpers, Olivia and Hanson, discovered some potatoes in the garden which was a little surprise.  We are going to sow our potatoes in August under the flag pole - any volunteers to clear that bed would be very welcome.  

This week we will celebrate World Oceans Day.  We are learning about seaweed and kelp in particular…our major source of oxygen.  Take some time to explore our beautiful Port Phillip Bay and perhaps do a Citizen Science report of what you observe.  Kingston Council call for young people to become Citizen Scientists - here is the link https://www.kingston.vic.gov.au/environment/sustainability/discover-nature
