Over the past two weeks we have been busy assessing what students now know and what we need to work on as goals for second semester. Prep Guy students have shown an amazing amount of resilience, working their way through all curriculum area assessments, ready to write reports on Friday. If you would like to discuss your child's progress at any time please email me or come into my classroom; the door is always open to you.

I hope everyone enjoys a long weekend with their beautiful children ready for school again on Tuesday.
In Literacy we have been working on finding information about student's chosen Australian animal, working with non fiction books. Students have made their animal with clay, made a diorama complete with the animal's habitat and completed an information report with a labelled picture, what their animal eats, its habitat and life cycle. This week students are going to present their learnt information to the grade as part of our Speaking and Listening curriculum.
In Numeracy students have continued working on addition and subtraction sums using a range of models to help them.
Prep Guy Students Of The Week
Congratulations to Maggie and Heath who were voted in by their classmates over the past two weeks. Students said Maggie and Heath both show our school values of being respectful wrens, responsible ringtail possums and resilient roos. Prep Guy are so proud of you both.
This week students voted in Lacey as our Student Of The Week. Students said Lacey was resilient, bouncing back from hurting her hand. Well done; keep up the terrific resilience.
This awesome photo deserves a space on our newsletter!
We have been busy practicing and reviewing concepts learnt over Term 1 and 2 (so far) as Miss Stoll has been busy assessing our reading, writing and maths knowledge and skills.
Our Auslan focus has remained the same, exploring how to sign our emotions/ feelings, the alphabet and our National Anthem! We are now signing "I feel...".
🔤 In English, we have been focusing on handwriting, sentence structure and boundary punctuation. We are learning about recounts, narratives and letter writing whilst exploring comprehension strategies of fiction and non-fiction texts in worded and digital formats. We have focused on Australian animals, particularly koalas and animals we saw at Gumbuya World. We have begun writing informative pieces of writing where we can write about animals, what they look like, what they eat and where they live.
🔢 In maths we have explored addition. We are using unifix, counters, shells, whiteboards, markers, coloured transport figures, number lines, tens frames and hundreds charts to explore how to add single and teen numbers.
📖 Reading Nights 📖
Congratulations to Jackson, William and Esme who are or current reading night leaders! Keep reading students and families! It truly does make such a massive difference to your child's learning across all curriculum areas and their social-emotional wellbeing. Have a look at these cool facts below.
🐆 Leo's Journey 🐆
Last week Jackson took Leo home and this week it's Miles' turn. We love seeing what Leo gets up to each week with his friends.
🌟 Student Achievers 🌟
Our awesome Student Achiever is Ava! Ava has been working hard to develop her confidence in our classroom and is always a kind, friendly and helpful member of P1 Stoll. Ava always tries her personal best! Well done Amazing Ava!

We have been super busy over the last 2 weeks, assessing in our classroom and what clever little 🐝🐝🐝 bees we have. The students have been amazing showing resilience and working their way through all curriculum area assessments, ready to write school reports on Friday.
Our Learning
In Literacy, we are learning about "The Rainbow Serpent", and we will still be looking at this over the coming weeks. Students are enjoying learning about this Dreamtime Story.
The Rainbow Serpent is a snake called Goorialla. In the story Goorialla formed mountains, valleys, and rivers, shaping the Australian landscape.
In Numeracy, we have been learning about Doubles, which helps us with our addition, subtraction and division. We are also starting to learn about addition, using number lines, ten frames and tally marks to help us to add together.
