Special Visitor Inspires Future Coders and Astronomers

In Week 4, Great Ryrie was thrilled to welcome Dr Christophe Pinte, a renowned astrophysicist who uses advanced computer coding to help discover planets still in the process of forming—known as “baby planets”—beyond our solar system.
These planets, which are less than 5 million years old, offer scientists valuable clues about how planetary systems, including our own, are created.
During a special voluntary lunchtime talk, a large group of curious students with a passion for coding, science, and space gathered to learn about Dr Pinte’s fascinating work.
He explained how he uses complex simulations and data from powerful telescopes to detect these young planets as they take shape in distant star-forming regions.
Students were amazed to discover just how young "baby planets" are in cosmic terms, and they had the opportunity to ask thoughtful questions about space, coding, and the future of planetary exploration.
Dr Pinte’s visit sparked excitement and curiosity, inspiring our budding coders and future astronomers to keep exploring the limitless possibilities of science and technology.
