Indonesian Speaking Competition 2025

Congratulations to all participants of the Indonesian Speaking Competition 2025!Your participation and resilience were truly outstanding. Bagus sekali!

 

A big round of applause for the following students—true champions who have emerged as the best of the best! They will proudly represent GRPS in the Finals of the Indonesian Speaking Competition 2025, to be held on 14th June 2025 at Melbourne High School. All the best, children—let's show them what we've got!

Preps

At the start of Term 2, Prep students continue to strengthen their understanding of Indonesian greeting words while expanding their vocabulary with more colours and numbers in Indonesian. Learners engaged in active learning activities to help remember primary and secondary colours and apply their knowledge of numbers. Additionally, learners learned new Indonesian words through a fun colouring activity.

 

Grade 1s and 2s

At the beginning of Term 2, Grade 1 and 2 students learned a popular Indonesian folk song called Potong Bebek Angsa. They had fun singing the song with expressive movements and good intonation. In addition, students explored new topics such as fruits and vegetables in Indonesian. They enjoyed singing a bilingual fruit song and applying their knowledge through interactive activities like Blooket.

 

Grade 3s and 4s

Beginning in Term 2, Grade 3 and 4 students explored a new Indonesian poem titled Durian—known as the king of fruits and also for its strong smell. They recited the poem with expressive gestures, clear intonation, and impressive fluency. Students also tried at drawing durians, producing fantastic simple artwork in their Indonesian book. In addition, they learned about hewan (animals) in Indonesian through engaging activities and reinforced their knowledge using Blooket.

 

Grade 5s and 6s

At the beginning of Term 2, Grade 5 and 6 students explored an engaging and practical topic—Indonesian currency. They learned about the currency used in Indonesia and developed skills to convert between AUD and Rupiah. Students were fascinated by the fruit prices in Indonesia and expressed their appreciation for living in Australia. Additionally, they deepened their understanding of animal vocabulary in Indonesian by classifying animals into three categories: land, water, and air. They also enjoyed learning and singing animal-themed songs in Indonesian
