English Overview/Volleyball Cup/Camp/5-6 Timetables

English

Reading: This term in reading all classes have been reading the Disney novel 'Never Never, written by Serena Valentino'. It is a retelling of the Peter Pan story but from the point of view of Captain Hook. We have been enjoying integrating the use of the Six Thinking Hats (De Bono) into building the students comprehension skills. We have had a weekly focus for each chapter, allowing the students to think differently about the content of the novel. These hats focus on different areas of comprehension and allow students to think 'outside the box'.

Writing: This term in writing we have been completing different types of writing such as recounts, letter writing, biographies (a student favourite) and information reports. Students have been learning the text structures and features of these texts to plan, draft, edit and publish final copies. In writing lessons we have also been learning about the use and purpose of conjunctions in sentences. Students have done a lot of work on conjunctions, from learning what they are, to identifying them in a sentence, to being able to produce sentences using difference conjunctions.

Volleyball Cup

On Wednesday 4th June 2025, a select group of students went to Upwey High School for the day to participate in the Upwey High Volleyball Cup. They spent the morning learning volleyball skills before participating in a round robin tournament. All students did an amazing job representing our school to a high standard. Congratulations to our two teams that made it to their pools grand final with both teams coming runners up.
