Writing

Over the last few weeks, the Grade Three and Four students developed the skills needed to create information reports. After learning about the key characteristics of information reports, they chose an animal to research and created their own information booklets. This involved investigating their animal’s characteristics, diet, and habitat from reliable sources. Students collected dot point information and then practised turning these into full sentences using their own words. Throughout the process, teachers provided step-by-step support—helping students organise their findings with clear headings and guiding them to write factual and easy-to-understand sentences.

Reading

This term in reading, we have been revising the comprehension strategies we learnt last term, and practicing using them with different texts. We have also begun reading our class novel The Enchanted Wood by Enid Blyton.

We have thoroughly enjoyed meeting Silky, Moon-face and all the other magical creatures that live in the Magic Faraway Tree, and are excited to continue reading about their amazing adventures.

Wear It Yellow

On Friday 30th May, our school proudly took part in Wear It Yellow Day to support First Nations communities. Students and staff wore yellow to raise awareness and funds for education and equity. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and show our support together.

Reminders

It is an expectation in Grade Three and Four, that students are reading for 20 minutes each night and recording their reading into their diary. Students can choose how they read: independently, to an adult, to a sibling, or even to a teddy or pet.

We are focusing on learning our times tables, and last term each student came home with a laminated times table chart. It is expected that students are practicing their times tables at home each night.
