Red Class News

Miss Graham

It’s been a busy and exciting few weeks in the classroom, with students showing wonderful enthusiasm across all areas of learning. Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve been up to:

Literacy

Each week, students have been introduced to new sounds and sight words, helping them to read increasingly complex texts with confidence. Over the past few weeks, they’ve taken great interest in imaginative writing tasks, coming up with many creative and thoughtful ideas to bring their stories to life.

Numeracy

We have recently wrapped up our topic on combining and separating quantities. Students are now exploring the concept of forming groups, with a focus on patterns, equal groups, and sharing. This new topic has been a hit in the classroom, with students showing high levels of engagement and enjoyment.

Science

Our science unit has focused on learning about what makes things living. Recently, we’ve been exploring the needs of plants and trees and their importance in our environment. To extend this learning, the class watched The Lorax, which helped deepen their understanding of the significant role trees play in supporting life on Earth.

Reminders

Please continue to read with your child regularly and practise their tricky words at home. If you need physical readers to take home, don’t hesitate to get in touch. Practising counting forwards and backwards, as well as number recognition, is also greatly encouraged.
