Year Eight - Personal Development Day

On May 20th, Year Eight celebrated and cherished their Personal Development Day.

The day was filled with many activities and moments around the topic of health and wellbeing of the students, not to mention a special guest, Angelica Pupillo, who kindly shared her wide knowledge and story on the topic of self-love, health and nutrition.  The Year 8s finished the rest of the day with drawing abstract self-portraits, creating delicious yogurt bowls and finally creating a short film on health, wellbeing and self-love!

Music Camp

Welcome to another successful music camp! Every year, the music department goes away from Friday to Sunday to Arrabri Lodge in Warbuton, and they perform at schools on the way. This year we went to St Peter Julian Eymard Primary School, and it's safe to say that we may have acquired some new fans. We enjoyed some ice breakers and a scavenger hunt, and became acquainted with musos (new and old) of different year levels

On the remaining days of camp, we enjoyed (constant, non-stop) practice for the upcoming concert and even celebrated a few birthdays (by singing Happy Birthday every chance we could). As always, music camp was a great success and brought the music community at Killester together.

Year Nine - Wonder

This semester, under the topic of Passion Projects, the ‘Get Psyched’ Year 9 Wonder class used their understanding and creativity to focus on creating projects, following themes related to psychology. Students were encouraged to come up with their own driving questions to explore many different aspects and educate others. Our goal was to use the process of the Wonder cycle and incorporate it into our projects to learn, share and showcase our findings in a gallery walk format.

During the gallery walk showcase, we walked around to each table and each group/individual presented and explained their findings to the audience. There were 3 timed sessions and the groups were assigned to a section to set up. After each session, the roles were swapped over and groups who were presenting got to have a chance to examine other projects.

Coming from the perspective of a student, I can confidently say we all were able to walk away with newly learnt information from this engaging, entertaining and informative experience.

CGSAV Athletics

Killester students competed against seven other schools in the CGSAV Division 2 Athletics competition on Wednesday 28 May.

The very early start, cold and at times rainy conditions and even the highly competitive queue for hot chips could not dampen the girls spirits. They ran, jumped, and threw themselves into every event, becoming the overall winners and securing the highly coveted Aggregate Champions Trophy.

The students' willingness to fully participate, to enter events at the last minute and to fervently support their team mates meant for an action packed, exciting and rewarding day for all.

Congratulations to all the students who took part and to all the staff who coached them.
