STEM

It's hard to believe we are nearly halfway through the year although the weather has certainly turned winter-like!

In the past few weeks we have been focusing on the design and technology aspect of STEM, looking mainly at textiles. The Preps and Year 1s were very excited to make pom poms and the rest of the school made cardboard looms and completed some very therapeutic weaving sessions.

Another aspect of design and technology we have started is paper craft, using the design thinking process to create paper toys, both imagined and with templates. The senior students are in the process of researching, planning and designing paper bridges with some set criteria - who knew there were so many ways to build a bridge! They will construct and test their designs next week during class.

The last two weeks of the term bring some further design and technology challenges to really stretch our thinking and inspire some out-of-the-box ideas. I can't wait to see what they come up with!
