Year 6 Podcasts & Managing Screen Time
Our year 6 students have been busy learning the fundamentals and creation process of Podcasts. We hope you enjoy these three samples of their amazing work:
As the school holiday period approaches, families will be planning and making arrangements for activities, care and family time. Increased screen time during this time can be problematic for many children and young people. Managing screen time by having family agreements, modeling use and sticking to time allocations are necessary in ensuring children and young people stay safe online.
School TV is a Parent platform accessible via their schools internet page. You will find an array of topics, resources and fact sheets in supporting you to support your child. Please see below.
Quote from School TV:
'Many parents have reported excessive screen time as the number one health concern affecting kids, especially now in the hyperconnected world we live in. The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends that there should be no screen time at all for children under two, less than an hour a day for children aged from two to five, and less than two hours for five to 17 year olds. However, these guidelines have been disputed by experts and often ignored by families. Parents must play an important role in modelling a positive approach to using screens, and assisting children to navigate the content they access'.
