Wellbeing Report

Hello from the Wellbeing team,
What a fantastic term it has been!
As we spend time together over these Easter holidays, it can be a great opportunity to discuss cyber safety with your child, particularly if they have access to a phone/tablet/computer at home.
Online safety is an essential topic for our kids and your role at home is crucial in helping them navigate the digital world safely. There are some key points that we recommend to navigate the internet as safely as possible with your child.
It’s important to set clear rules about which websites and apps are appropriate for your child to use and be aware of what these apps/websites entail.
Encourage them to never share personal information—like their name, address, or school—while online.
Utilize parental controls on devices can also help limit screen time and monitor online activities. Check the activity regularly and discuss with your child any concerns.
Most importantly, keep the lines of communication open with your child. Regularly check in with them about what they’re seeing or doing online, and create a space where they feel comfortable asking questions if something seems off. By fostering respectful online behaviour and encouraging awareness, we can work together to keep our children safe and positive in their online interactions.
On another note, as part of our role here at school we provide support to our families in any way that we can. We regularly provide food hampers as well as access to our community pantry for families who would like some extra pantry/food staples. Please reach out to the wellbeing team if this would benefit you and your family. We would love to help you out.
We wish you all a happy Easter break and look forward to seeing you all in two weeks.
We’ll see you around the school!
Amy, Libby and Sally.
Family fun
Make a quote book. I read a family relationships book before my first daughter was born, in it there is a chapter called ‘The best parenting advice ever’ and it was simple and fun, a quote book. Every time one of the girls said something that made us laugh we would write down what was said so that in years to come we would remember. The kids don’t even remember saying some of the things in there but they sure get a kick out of hearing what they said when they were small. Some of the things they have said that bring down the house are: M: What should I write a story about? E: A unicorn. What should I write a story about? M: A unicorn E: Should mine be rainbow or cylinder? (M:7 E:4) and one at 3 years old ‘I’m puffed out of shoes and I’m puffed out of socks. So, I think I will just wear bare feet’ I’m sure there are still many new quotes to be collected. Every now and then we will pull out the book and have a read and a laugh and everyone feels happier for it.
Breakfast Club
Will start back in term two. Last Wednesday Sandy and Sally held a biscuit and flavoured milk sale to raise funds for Foodbank. Each week Foodbank delivers a large pallet of food to the school for use at Breakfast club, to make sandwiches for lunches, provide apples and snacks in the classrooms and to stock the Community Pantry. This is at no cost to the school and it’s delivered to the door. We are able to order a lot of different food products from Foodbank and as much as we need. Sandy suggested that we give a little back as a way to thank Foodbank for their support. Thanks to our willing families participating in the fundraiser we were able to raise $406.85 and we had many smiling children walking away with their delicious homemade biscuits and milk drinks.
Food Pantry
The food pantry is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons between 2:30 and 3:30pm. Please note the pantry will close early on Monday’s. We have a range of foods, including gluten and lactose free items and on Wednesday’s we have fresh carrots and fruit, apples, pears and oranges. If you are in need of a pantry top up please stop by and pick something up.
Chaplaincy
Sally Marshall – Chaplain: is happy to catch up with your child if you feel they need that extra emotional support during school hours. Sally is available on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and can be contacted via email sally.marshall@education.vic.gov.au or by phone call 5964 7258.
