Year 5/6

5/6 NEWSLETTER – CAMP EDITION!
Cabins
At camp we had cabins (obviously) and at Campaspe Downs our cabins were…decent, actually. They weren’t fancy – which is what you’d expect from camp. Also, it was nice how everyone enjoyed the company of the people in their cabins and there wasn't much drama, which made the experience more enjoyable.
Night Activities
At Campaspe Downs we had Night Activities. On the first evening, we played ‘Passport to the world’ where we got a map with a location to find in our team. Then we also had to answer some questions and check the answers with Archie (our camp leader) so we could get points to then leave the “airport” and act like a plane to leave. The game went on for about 40 minutes.
The next night activity was the Disco. We suggested some songs and just danced in the hall. There were also some awards for the disco for: best outfit, best dance moves and best karaoke. There were a lot of people singing the songs that were played, and it was pretty noisy. They didn't serve any food or drinks but it was still a pretty good time!

Activities & food
Monday
The activities my group did Monday were the flying fox and orienteering. After the activities we had delicious dinner: chicken with veggies, anything from the salad bar and, of course, alternatives for anyone with dietary requirements.
Tuesday
In the morning, we headed to the dining hall for breakfast where they served sausages and eggs. There were also different types of cereal, toast, butter and jams to choose from. During the morning, my group did the centipede and raft building, which was very fun. For lunch we had salad and wraps. In the afternoon, we explored the low ropes and rock climbing. To wrap up the day, we ate pasta with sauce and garlic bread.
Wednesday
On the morning of the last day, we woke up early to pack our belonging and went to breakfast, which was hash browns and beans. The final activities for camp were bush crafts and initiatives (problem solving and collaborative games). Our last meal there was lunch and we enjoyed burgers and chips before getting on the bus to take us back to BSPS.

My first camp…EVER! (ENG version)
Before leaving for my first ever camp I thought that there would be just 4 of us in the cabin and that we would spend less time with our companions. When we left, I was a little excited but also a little surprised because it was my first time!
I didn't like the first day very much, but I liked the second and third day more because I had a lot of fun. I really liked my group with whom I did activities!
I didn't like the food very much except for breakfast on the third day because there were two hash browns, beans and then I had some cereal and a toast with strawberry and apricot jam.
I also had fun taking pictures and talking to new people. The activity that I liked the most was the flying fox. We did flying fox, bushcraft, we created a raft and we had to look for flags and numbers with a map, we did “Disco” (but I didn’t like it), and finally we also did climbing with long “sticks” with platforms where you can put your hands and feet (Centipede).
In the end I came home very happy!
