2025 enrolments
Our very first Information Evening for Prospective Families took place on Monday. Sarah, Nancy and I had the pleasure of speaking about our inclusive, welcoming school community, our highly successful teaching and learning programs and of course, our amazing students! The hardest part was narrowing down what we wanted to share and sticking to time, because there are so many things we’re proud of!
If you or someone you know is hoping to enrol a child at BSPS for next year, please encourage them to pick up an enrolment pack from the office. The forms can be submitted to the school from next term, and it helps with our planning to have them returned nice and early.
Dolly’s Dream
This week, our Yr 3-6 students enjoyed hearing from Dolly’s Dream, who shared a powerful message about the importance of choosing kindness. The follow-up session for parents and carers will be held tonight and is well subscribed. We are grateful for the support of our parents and carers in reinforcing this important message!
Kindness is something we can all practice every day. We encourage you to continue this conversation at home, and to chat with your child about what kindness looks like and how they can show it in their daily interactions, whether at school, at home, or in the community. You may like to try family Kindness Bingo using the ideas below.
It feels good to be kind! Acting kindly releases “happy hormones” like dopamine and serotonin, promotes feelings of connection, self-worth and a sense of purpose. Kindness is also contagious!
Ask your child about the ways they can be kind to others, celebrate their kind acts, and share your own experiences with kindness. By making kindness a part of your daily conversations, we can all work together to nurture our positive and caring school environment.
There is some handy info for parents on the Dolly’s Dream website, and the Office of the e-Safety Commissioner has an excellent parent resource as well.
Celebrating Neurodiversity at BSPS
Next week is Neurodiversity Celebration Week. This special week provides an opportunity to raise awareness and celebrate the unique ways our brains work. It’s estimated that 1 in 5 Australians are neurodiverse in some way. Neurodiversity refers to the idea that everyone’s brain is wired differently, and it embraces conditions like autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and more. By acknowledging and appreciating these differences, we can create a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone.
The week is a chance for us all to learn how diverse thinking can lead to creativity, innovation, and unique problem-solving. We encourage parents and carers to talk to their children about the importance of embracing differences, supporting one another, and celebrating what makes each person special. You might like to learn more about neurodiversity here.
Ciao for now, Kristie
