Principal's Report

Dear Rockhampton North Special School Community,

Can you believe we’re already at the end of Term 1? It’s been a huge term filled with learning, laughter and plenty of growth, and we’re so proud of what our students and staff have achieved together.

As we head into the Easter break, we’re looking forward to one of our favourite end-of-term traditions – the Easter Hat Walk! Join us on Thursday at 10:00am as our students proudly show off their wonderful creations. It’s always a colourful and joyful event, and we love having our families there to celebrate with us.

A quick reminder: if you have important information to pass on about your child, please share it with Judy in the office in the morning. With the hustle and bustle of drop-off time, it’s tricky for classroom messages to get through when they’re shared with staff on the go.

Looking ahead to Term 2, our school will be participating in the Queensland Engagement and Wellbeing (QEW) Survey. Student wellbeing and engagement are essential for learning, and families play a big role in this. Taking time to talk, listen, and support your child’s routines and friendships can make a big difference.

One of the biggest highlights this term has been the success of our Phonics program. As part of our Explicit Improvement Agenda, our whole team has come on board to support every student in learning their sounds. The progress we’re seeing is incredible – and this week, we’re celebrating the fantastic efforts of both staff and students. Well done, everyone!

Our leadership team continues to grow through a strong network of Queensland schools and the guidance of a school improvement coach, helping us strengthen our instructional leadership for the benefit of our learners.

Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday. Take care on the roads and enjoy the break with your loved ones.

Warm regards,

Dehlia
