Year 9 German: Experience Day
On Tuesday 1 April our year 9 German students took part in an internal Gap Experience Day promoting German culture and language as part of the German curriculum. They had researched different themes in small groups and prepared everything in advance.
We played some German games, learnt about German history, architecture and festivals, we had German tongue twisters and ate lots of very yummy German food!!
They had a great time, and also invited the year 10 German class in to share at the end. You will get to see some of their work at the Gap Experience Day next term!
Year 9 Chinese Students Enjoy a Hands-On Dumpling Session
Our Year 9 Chinese students recently had a fun and interactive dumpling-making session as part of their cultural studies. Under the guidance of their teacher, Mrs Zhang, students learned how to prepare traditional Chinese dumplings from scratch-mixing fillings, folding dumpling wrappers, and perfecting their cooking techniques.
Beyond just cooking, this hands-on experience deepened students’ appreciation of Chinese culture and traditions. They also had the chance to practice their language skills by learning key food-related vocabulary and instructions in Mandarin.
The best part? Enjoying the delicious dumplings they made! It was a fantastic way to combine language learning with cultural immersion, and the students can’t wait for their next culinary adventure.
