Term 2 is Well Underway!

Term 2 has started at full speed, with SACs, assessments, classes, and a wide range of activities keeping everyone busy. This is when using a diary or planner really pays off – helping us stay organised and on top of everything happening.

We’re incredibly impressed with our students’ punctuality this term. We’ve been actively encouraging the importance of being on time, and it’s fantastic to see so many Lyndale Secondary College students arriving punctually to class each morning. This positive habit is not only helping in school but is a valuable skill that students will carry into their future workplaces.

As we head into the colder months, we know it can be harder to get out of bed – but let’s keep that motivation going strong. Great work so far, and let’s continue striving for success!

Senior School Pathways Evening – Tuesday 25th June

An important evening is coming up for all senior students and their families. The Senior School Pathways Evening will feature a Careers Expo and a series of information sessions about VCE, VCE VM, VPC, and post-school pathways. Please ensure it’s marked in your diary.

Reminders: ‘S’ Work and Student Progress

A reminder to all students about the importance of completing their coursework both in and out of class. To receive an ‘S’ (Satisfactory) result, students must maintain consistent attendance and meet all assessment requirements. High achievement follows hard work—stay focused, complete your tasks to a high standard, and seek help if you need support.

Year 9: South East Careers Expo – 13th May 2025

Year 9 students recently attended the South East Careers Expo, the largest event of its kind in the region. It was a valuable opportunity for students to explore a wide range of industries, career options, and study pathways. The event helps inform students’ decisions as they begin thinking about their Year 10 and senior subject selections, ensuring they make choices aligned with their interests and future goals.

Year 10: Mental Health First Aid Training

Over a four-week period, some of our Year 10 students are participating in a Mental Health First Aid workshop. This important one-day, three-hour training equips students with the skills to recognise the signs and symptoms of common mental health issues in adolescents. The course also empowers students to respond appropriately to emerging concerns and understand the range of available support and intervention options.

Year 10: CoRE Program – Connected, Resilient, Engaged

We’re excited to offer the CoRE program to our Year 10 students, a new initiative from Blue Light Victoria designed to support students at risk of disengagement or vulnerability. Delivered through weekly sessions, the program builds resilience, promotes pro-social behaviours, and fosters strong connections with peers, trusted adults, and the wider community. CoRE provides a safe space for students to build relationships, gain self-awareness, and grow their confidence and sense of agency. It’s a fully funded, school-based opportunity that’s already making a meaningful impact.

Years 11 & 12: Short Courses

Senior students have had the opportunity to complete practical, career-oriented short courses:

  • White Card Training took place on Friday 2nd May. This is a mandatory course for anyone wishing to work in the construction industry. Upon completion, students are certified to work legally on Australian construction sites.
  • Espresso/Barista Course took place over 3 weeks on Friday 9th,16th & 23rd May: Students develop hands-on skills in coffee preparation and service, gaining knowledge useful for part-time work in cafés or hospitality careers. Some courses also offer certifications to assist with future employment.
