Celebrating Female Football (Soccer) at Lyndale
Female Football Week, ran from May 2-11, and simply is a national initiative celebrating the women and girls driving the game — from players to referees and this year’s theme was to celebrate the community champions and trailblazers forging their own path in football.
At Lyndale, with the help of the City of Greater Dandenong we organised Dani Muretec, Dandenong City Girls Technical Director to visit our female students. The soccer clinic ran on the 8th May.
The clinic was full of open skills training and ended up with two indoor soccer games, one on each of our two stadium courts. We were able to use our newly purchase Futsal goals which the girls absolutely loved.
The images demonstrate how much fun the girls had. From this point on many girls have been turning up and participating in our Active Schools Lunchtime Soccer sessions which has been absolutely superb. Keep it up girls!!!

Carnival:
🏃 Lyndale Secondary College Athletics Carnival Wrap-Up 🏆
On Tuesday 6th of May, Lyndale Secondary College celebrated its final sporting event for the year — our Athletics Carnival, held at the beautifully upgraded Knox Athletics Track. With perfect weather conditions and a high of 25 degrees, the scene was set for a fantastic day of sport, teamwork, and school spirit.
A total of 574 students attended the carnival, contributing to the vibrant energy and high levels of participation across all events. From the moment the buses arrived, it was non-stop action. The day kicked off with the 1500m races and several field events, followed by the popular 100m heats, which saw huge turnouts across nearly every age group. It was fantastic to see so many students actively involved — the grandstand was nearly empty because everyone was out on the track or cheering on their peers!
Throughout the day, the momentum continued with the 400m and 800m races, alongside a full program of field events. A particularly encouraging highlight was the increase in female participation in field events, showing great progress in student involvement across all areas.
One of the most exciting moments came during the 12–13-year-old boys’ shot put, where Braxton Sofos broke a Lyndale record that had stood since 1991. The previous mark of 11.5m, held by Quan Nguyen, was smashed with an impressive throw of 12.50m. Congratulations, Braxton, on this outstanding achievement!
As the carnival reached its conclusion, all eyes turned to the relay races, where teams battled it out for the final house points. With the help of Mr. Wilson and Mrs. Kennedy, teams were quickly organised and ready to race. The crowd was buzzing with excitement.
In a thrilling finish, Halton House took out the overall win for the carnival — a well-deserved victory after a day of dedication and determination from all competitors.
A huge thank you goes to our staff, volunteers, and students for making the 2025 Athletics Carnival a memorable and successful event. We’re proud of every participant and look forward to more achievements in the year ahead!
Senior Winter Sport Update:
Senior Boys Soccer:
On Thursday the 8th of May our Senior boys' soccer team played out a hard-fought 4thplace. We started the day strong with 2 wins against Carwatha and Noble Park 3-1 and 3-0 respectively. Unfortunately, with only a side of 10 meaning we played one day all day the boys started running out of legs and were unable to beat Dandenong High in the Semi-final ending our day. It was a great effort from the boys with David Basalo scoring 5 goals and Bojan Ivetic leading the team very well. Big thanks to Mr. Palleschi for training and taking the boys out for sport.
Senior Girls Netball:
Our Senior netball had a great day out at Gloria Pyke on the 8th of May. Heading into the day with 8 players we hit the ground running with a strong first round win. Their confidence and strength built throughout the day only losing 2 games for the day and finishing in 3rd place. Congratulations again to all the girls on an amazing day and to the year 12's on their final Netball tournament at Lyndale. Big thanks to Miss Poulton for training and taking the girls out for sport!
Senior Badminton:
Lyndale Senior Boys Badminton Team Took 3rd Place!!! A strong showing from the Lyndale Secondary Senior Boys Team finishing in 3rd place at Division Sport in a tough competition. Consistent focus, solid teamwork and a calm composure whist under pressure helped them stand out.

Term 1 Year 7 Sport
Year 7 Tennis:
Lyndale SC was represented by a mixed team in Year 7 on February 27th. In the round-robin format, the mixed team faced Keysborough Banksia, Noble Park SC, and Carwatha College in both singles and doubles matches. Our first seed, Amsana Susikaran, displayed an exceptionally high level of skill, defeating all her opponents impressively. In the end, our Year 7 mixed team tied for first place with two other teams. The winner was decided by the total number of games won, giving Carwatha College the victory by a narrow margin. The students enjoyed the competition and took every opportunity between matches to practice their skills and play against each other. Big thanks to Mrs Muller for training and taking our students out for sport.
Year 7 Volleyball - Girls:
On Thursday the 3rd of April, our year 7 volleyball team competed at Dandenong stadium. It was a start to the start with the team’s first win against Carwartha. Our year 7 team was the strongest competitor against the overall winning team pushing them to 20:22. In the final match KBA only marginally lost both in 19:21.
The girls played as a team and communicated well. Big thanks to Mrs. Carmichael for training and taking the girls out for sport and to Plaj the sport captain for helping with the students.
Year 7 Volleyball - Boys:
The boys' Year 7 volleyball team played against five schools, winning three matches overall. They won against Dandenong HS, a mixed team and another school. In a close game against Keys, we lost 1-2, with the final set losing by 2 points. It was a great day out for sport.
