Collaborative Art Project with Sunnyside Kindergarten
Last Tuesday our Year 5 students began a collaborative Art Project with the 4 year old kinder students at Sunnyside. The students will come together over three weeks to create a sculpture of a bird using foil and coloured paper. The art piece was inspired from the book titled How the Birds Got their Colours. This beautiful book is based on a story told by Mary Albert, of the Bardi people, to indigenous children living in Broome, Western Australia. Many thanks to Ms Jo Boers for her expertise in designing this activity for the students to enjoy together.
Congratulations to Sunnyside - 80th Anniversary
Yesterday Angie and I were delighted to attend celebrations to mark the 80th anniversary of Sunnyside Kindergarten. This beautiful kinder has been successfully educating children for 80 years! It is an enormous achievement and we are pleased to have maintained our strong relationship with the staff and families over many years. We always look forward to welcoming students from Sunnyside into the St Roch's school community. Congratulations to all the families and staff who have been pivotal in the kindergartens' success over the decades. Looking thorough the photo books on display I was excited to see secondary school friends of mine who were students at Sunnyside way back!
