Pilgrims of Hope

Father in heaven,

may the faith you have given us

in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother,

and the flame of charity enkindled

in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,

reawaken in us the blessed hope

for the coming of your Kingdom.

Amen

St Roch's Sacramental program: Year 3 Reconciliation

At our retreat day with Father Gallacher, we set up a special prayer space that had a stole, this is what we wore when we received Reconciliation - it is a special gift from the school. We learned about the 10 commandments and how they can help us to follow the rules from God and live good lives. We learned how our soul needs to be looked after by making good choices. We went into the church and saw that there is a special room for Reconciliation with 2 sides. God is speaking to you through Father Gallacher. There was a red and green light to show if someone is in there. You can receive Reconciliation as many times as you want.

Finally, we created some art pieces about the 10 commandments together. It was a really fun day full of learning!

St Roch's 'Holy Week Re-enactment' - all families are warmly welcome!

This Friday 4 April at 9.15am our school will come together to commemorate and reflect on the events of Holy Week.  Each Year level will share a particular focus:

Prep - Palm Sunday

Year 3 - Garden of Gethsemane

Year 4 - Last Supper and the washing of the feet

Year 5 & 6 - Stations of the Cross

Year 1 & 2 - The Easter Story (beginning of Term 2)

A note has come from Prep - 4 classroom teachers regarding simple clothing that may be worn by students when sharing their part of the story. Please note that our Year 1 and 2 students will be presenting their ‘Easter Story’ in Term 2 on Wednesday 23 April at 3.00pm.

St Patrick's Day Mass

Last Friday some of our Year 6 students represented St Roch’s School at the St Patrick’s Day Mass in the cathedral. This Mass was led by Archbishop Comensoli who shared that we now have 297 Catholic schools in our diocese and the Cathedral certainly felt like many of those schools were there. After Mass, Father Gallacher took us on a tour of the Cathedral to give us a deeper insight as to how and why it came to be. We also were able to walk around the altar to the various areas of the Cathedral and we saw many different chapels there. After that, the students had some fun down at the ‘Concert in the Park’ at Treasury Gardens with all of the other schools. A lot of the secondary schools had their rock bands playing there and there were games/activities to do too.
