Level 2

Reading & Writing

Over the past two weeks in Level 2, we have linked our Reading and Writing topics together to assist students in their understanding of non-fiction texts. During Reading sessions, the students have selected a topic to research using their own prior knowledge and online texts from Epic. They have created research notes and organised their information into subtopics with a main idea and supporting details. During Writing sessions, students have called on this research to create an organised information report complete with subheadings and paragraphs.

Maths

Over the last two weeks, our Level 2 students have explored the concept of measurement. We began by introducing measurement with informal units. The students used classroom items such as pencils, unifix, and their own feet to measure objects. They also practiced estimation to make informed guesses before measuring. This week, the students were introduced to centimetres and have learned to measure length and height effectively using rulers.

Harmony Day

HEPS students celebrated Harmony Day last Monday. This is a day to celebrate the variety of different cultures in Australia and in our school. Throughout the day, the student participated in activities themed around different countries and cultures. The Level 2 students also joined up with a buddy grade from Level 4 or 5 to work together collaboratively during the day's festivities.

Term 2

Friendly reminder that our first week after the school holidays will be a short, 3-day week. Students will return to school on Tuesday April 22nd due to the Easter Monday holiday. Friday April 25th will also be a student-free day due to the ANZAC day public holiday.
