Learning and Teaching

Welcome to Term 2!
Welcome back to Term 2! I hope you and your families had a lovely Easter break. It’s been so nice hearing about all the holiday adventures — our students have come back with big smiles, ready for another fun and exciting term of learning.
Class Newsletters
This week, you should have received your child’s Term 2 Newsletter from their classroom teacher, outlining the key learning focuses and upcoming events for the term. If not, you can find the newsletters below:
National Walk Safely to School Day
It’s that time of year again when our school gets serious about walking! Walk Safely to School Day encourages us to think about our transport habits and find ways to include more walking in our daily routines.
While walking the whole way to school isn’t realistic for everyone, there are many simple ways to build a walk into your day:
- Walk with your child the whole way to school.
- If they catch the bus or train, walk past your usual stop and hop on at the next one.
- If you need to drive, park a few blocks away from school and walk the rest of the way.
Regular exercise like walking helps children (and adults!) stay healthy and protect against issues like obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and mental health challenges. Plus, it’s a great chance to teach your child about road safety.
Remember—active Kids are Healthy Kids!
Start planning your Walk Safely to School Day journey for Friday, May 16, 2025.

Vision for Instruction
On the next page, I warmly invite you to explore our Vision for Instruction and read an article by our Literacy Curriculum Leader, Iris DeVisser, that brings this vision to life through our approach to reading.
Have a fantastic week ahead.
