Message from the Principal

St Peter’s School - an empowered faith community to enrich the world.

Welcome to Week 2 of Term 2

Welcome back to Term 2! I hope everyone was able to find some time over the school holidays to rest and relax.

What a busy start to the term it has been! In the first week, which was only 3 days, we gathered as a staff to mourn the loss of Pope Francis, we prayed as a school for the joy of Easter Sunday and gathered together to commemorate ANZAC Day. Please read our Religious Education page for more details regarding these commemorations.

This week (Wednesday- Friday) our Year 5 and 6 students are at camp. Camps are a great opportunity for us all to step out of our comfort zone and try new experiences in a different setting. This year we are at Camp Weekaway, which will see us try bike riding, archery, flying fox and problem solving and team building activities. Make sure you read our next newsletter for student recounts!

A prayer for Pope Francis

Loving and Eternal God,

We thank You for the life, leadership, and gentle spirit of Pope Francis. You gifted him to the world as a humble servant, a shepherd of peace, mercy, and compassion.

Now that his journey on Earth has ended, we entrust his soul to Your loving arms. May he be welcomed into Your heavenly kingdom, where there is no pain or sorrow, only the joy of eternal life.

Grant him rest, O Lord, and let Your perpetual light shine upon him. May his words and actions continue to inspire us to live with kindness, humility, and faith.

We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Amen.

Learning and Teaching of reading at St Peter's

We are excited to be continuing our journey of explicit teaching of phonics and using the science of reading to inform our teaching of reading. As you will read on the Vision for Instruction page, we are seeing growth in our students.  We look forward to continuing to see this progress as we work as a school to continually improve practice to best meet the needs of students.

I hope everyone is abe to enjoy the warmer days ahead.
