Recycling for Good Stuff

Anyone keen to join us today after school to help sort some cans? (And apologies for the late notice!).
If you’re in no hurry to be home, want to do something different, be among others, we’ll be by the oval at 3.30pm. We’ve eight boxes to tip over, with cans collected from the recent St Kilda St Patrick’s Day festival by Luna Park.
Some of the funds raised have been pledged to a charity of the festival organizer’s choice – Darkness into Light, which helps young people navigate mental health issues. Based in Dublin, this organization does lots of good stuff in Melbourne, so it’s a circle joined.
Helping them through the cans we recycle, it’s our own circle of giving.
And an update from Allison: the SKiPPS community has raised $80.90 (10c at a time) so far this term through the recycling initiative. Great work! The Green Team will soon choose a charity to donate these funds to. Term 4 last year, the money went to St Kilda Pets in the Park, a group that offers free veterinary care to companion animals of homeless people. What a wonderful choice!
It's amazing your school is doing this: running this community recycling program, and showing children how it is to give to others.
I’m not surprised, but sometimes it’s good to be reminded.
Come join us today after school, if you can, even if only for five minutes – it might just be the best five minutes of our day!
