Welcome to IPS

Gratitude has an incredible power to shift our perspective towards abundance rather than scarcity. Gratitude allows us to recognise the richness of our lives, even in times of challenge and uncertainty. It is easy to read or watch the news and despair, but regardless of external circumstances, gratitude and happiness can thrive in our ability as a school community to find joy in the everyday, in learning, in friendships, in building relationships, and in the simple pleasures of everyday life.

At IPS we focus on positive behaviours and good citizenship. We understand that everyone has the right to feel safe at school. Our School Values are Confidence, Independence, Persistence, Resilience, and Respect.

It is up to all of us to bring these values to life and represent them in a way that makes our school a safe place, and a place we want to come to everyday.

ANZAC DAY

Today we held a special assembly because tomorrow is ANZAC Day and a public holiday. We were keen for the students to have a basic understanding why we have a holiday tomorrow so the Year 6 students did some research, and Simon, Sean and Grace addressed the assembly. You can read what they said on the Student Voice Page.

This was followed up be the reading of "In Flanders Field" written by John McCrae and read by Alicia, Isla and Marcus. The poem describes the tragedy of war, as well as the natural beauty that surrounds the area.

Finally, Ged read "The Ode" which has been recited to commemorate wartime service and sacrifice since 1921.

In the 1920s, Anzac Day was made into a public holiday in all states and territories of Australia. Anzac Day was traditionally a day to remember the Anzac soldiers who lost their lives at Gallipoli. Over time, however, it has become a more encompassing commemoration to remember all those who have lost their lives in service of Australia and New Zealand.

In recent years, Anzac Day is a day to celebrate the contributions and sacrifices all Australians have made for their country, including all genders, new Australians and Indigenous Australians.

  • It’s a day when we remember and thank everyone that has helped to look after our country
  • It’s a day when we are say thank you and are grateful that we live in a such a great country
  • It’s a day when we remember that we have to look after everyone that lives in our community, including our older people who helped make it so great.

This is why we have a public holiday tomorrow.

Annual PFA Trivia Night 31st May

The reports contained information regarding the school's context, performance highlights, financial information, and data that informs future goals and targets.

Thank you to those community members that joined us online.

Staying Safe Around School

Just to reiterate my initial message regarding positive behaviours and good citizenship, remember when times are tough , look for joy in the everyday, in learning, in friendships, in building relationships, and in the simple pleasures of life.

If you're doing fine, but you suspect someone else is struggling, consider reaching out and ask if they're okay.  (RuOK)  We're all part of the same community.

Thank you for your continued support.
