As term 1 draws to a close we reflect on what has been a very busy term for our students, staff and wider community. It is very positive to end the term with some events that involve large numbers from our community. Year 7 to 11 Parent/Teacher/Student conferences were held on Thursday evening and provided an opportunity for parents to meet their child’s teachers and for constructive conversations to be had around learning. On Friday we will start the day with our Easter liturgy. This provides a chance to reflect on and give thanks for the many gifts we have. And the day concludes with our annual cross country at Lake Wyangan. This is an opportunity for our serious athletes to test themselves but also a chance for the students to be together in an environment outside the classroom and enjoy each other's company. Such a positive way to end a very busy term.

Our Year 11 Wellbeing team have been very active this term, quietly working to undertake initiatives that promote and support student wellbeing. Today members of this team are attending HYPE - Helping Young People Evolve, where they will participate in workshops that let them see the various supports for young people in our local community. They will bring this back to the College and we hope to see them using this to guide some of their future initiatives. They already have some exciting plans in place for term 2.

In week 10 Senior Constables Jason Pietroboni and James Featherstone, in their capacity as Youth Engagement Officers,  provided a presentation to our Yr 7 group around bullying and harassment. We will be seeking their support next term to do a similar presentation with our Yr 8 and 9 students and also look at Cyber Safety with these year groups. It is wonderful to have the support of our local police in helping to inform and guide our students.

At this point in the term some families will be receiving letters concerning attendance or communication from classroom teachers highlighting attendance issues that are affecting your students ability to meet outcomes within their subject. Please remember that attendance is crucial in optimising learning. We ask all parents to use Compass to communicate any absences. Regular or prolonged absence has a negative impact on learning.

I would like to wish all our families a safe holiday period and a joyful and blessed Easter Season and I look forward to what term 2 brings us.
