From Daniel

 Our Principal

Term 2, and we are off to a great start!

Only a few days in, but we are already seeing great things in our classrooms.  It has been wonderful to see all our classes settling quickly into their routines and focusing on their learning.

We have begun our analysis of the impact of our new Structured Literacy approach and we are seeing some significant improvements across the board.  I am so grateful to our teachers for the great work they are doing in this area.  We are broadening our focus this term and extending our new approaches into Numeracy blocks.  In our May newsletter we will feature some of the new approaches in more detail.

Our Year 6 students head off to camp next week. We wish you all the best team!  Have a great time and we will see you back safe and sound, with some great stories!

Don't Forget - Cross Country Tomorrow!

Parents are most welcome to attend from 11.30am to 1pm.  Come and join the cheering!

Come and vote - and don't forget your Democracy Sausage.

Kilsyth Primary School is an official polling station for the Federal Election this coming Saturday.   When you come to vote, don't forget your wallet so you can grab a Democracy Sausage and a can of cold drink.

STOP PRESS >> Volunteers Needed!
we still have spaces we need to fill on our BBQ roster.  If you can spare a small amount of time, please let us know and SignUp here: https://signup.com/mobileweb/2.0/vspot.html?activitykey=2426090440107#choose_jobs_page

And there are so many other ways we would love you to get involved...

We have hugely active parent group here at Kilsyth PS and we truly value the support you provide.  You make so many of our activities possible.  Without you, many of our events just could not run.  We also know that students' connectedness to school increases dramatically when their parents get involved - even if that involvement is outside of school time.

Some activities run on a weekly basis:

  • Breakfast Club (Thursdays 8am - 9am) - we need 4 people per week to run this event.
  • Milo and Cookies (Wednesdays 10.30am - 11.30am) - we need 3 people per week.

Others are one off events:

  • Mothers Day stall (a couple of dates in May)
  • Excursions - Eg. Junior Melbourne Museum, Foundation Zoo
  • Working Bees (there will be one coming soon)

You can always check the "Links" area of Sentral to see what is coming up and use the SignUp  tool to let us know you are willing and able to help out.

We still need a few extra volunteers to help out at our Cross Country tomorrow.  Check Sentral to SignUp.

All the best

Daniel
