Sustainability

Earth Day was on the 22nd of April this year. Earth Day is an annual global event held to raise awareness and demonstrate support for environmental protection. We would love for you to read the below message that our Sustainability leaders shared at Whole School Assembly about Earth Day.
Earth Day’s 2025 theme is "Our Power, Our Planet", calling for everyone to unite around renewable energy so we can triple clean electricity by 2030. The Earth Day poster has a solar panel surrounded by lush nature and a clear sky.
How can you help? We challenge you to work on your green muscle memory. Your green muscle memory means doing the right thing for the planet everyday so these habits become so normal we are able to perform them without thinking, just like riding a bike. Right now, we have gotten used to receiving single-use plastic bags, plastic utensils and straws without asking, driving short distances, and creating food waste. You could grow your green muscle memory by doing things like using reusable bags, taking public transport, and buying food with no plastic.
To mark Earth Day, students will be invited to write an “Earth pledge” on a leaf during their Environmental Education lessons. This is like a promise of something they will do to try and look after the environment. We will use the leaves to make a tree and display it in the school.
