Environmental Education - Prep

Our fantastic Prep students have been excited to start our new topic, Plants and Animals! This week, they learnt about living things. Preps learnt that all living things eat and drink, move, grow, and have babies. They used this knowledge to check if different things were living or non-living. Prep students were able to explain that even though things like cars and aeroplanes move, they aren't living things as they don't eat and drink, grow or have babies! They used their knowledge to classify things as "living" or "non-living". It was fantastic to hear them using their reasoning skills as they did this activity.

Visual Arts - Years 1 and 2

The Year 1 and 2 students began our new unit this week: Aboriginal Australian Art studies. It was an intensive week, delving into various Aboriginal Australian art styles such as Rock Art, Bark Painting, X-Ray Art, Dot Painting, and more. Understanding the cultural context is crucial when exploring art from a different culture. This knowledge ensures that when creating artworks inspired by Aboriginal Australian Art, we do so with respect and awareness of its significance. The Year 1 and 2 students are now well-prepared to delve into Aboriginal Australian Art studies with respect and enthusiasm!

Physical Education - Years 3 and 4

This week our Grade 3 and 4 students have started their new unit of tennis in P.E. Students learnt to use the correct hand grips when striking the tennis ball and getting set in the 'ready' position. We started by practising some hand and eye co-ordination with some throwing and catching activities. Then we played some fun movement games before looking at how we can balance in the tennis ball on our racket and perform different individual skills with a racket and tennis ball. Finally, we played a 'last person standing' game, in which the children had to try and keep their tennis ball on the racket whilst trying to knock their peers' balls off their rackets.  Well done to all of our Grade 3s and 4s this week for a super introduction to tennis!

Performing Arts - Years 5 and 6

Our Grade 5 and 6 students have been introduced to the exciting world of Drama, exploring where we find drama in everyday life and why it plays such an important role in human expression. Students have begun developing their expressive and performance skills through a range of warm-up games, improvisation activities, and small group tasks. These experiences are helping them build confidence, creativity, and teamwork as they experiment with voice, movement, and character in a supportive and fun environment.
