The Preps have settled back into school beautifully and were ready to learn from day 1! This week, they have been introduced to the challenging topic of number bond addition in Maths. The Preps have done a fantastic job at using their knowledge of part-part-whole to help them solve simple addition problems. We are so proud of their eagerness to learn and accept challenges. Well done Preps!
The Year 1s have settled in well to Term 2 by showing our school routines and expectations. Our Personal and Social Capabilities focus this term is 'Inside Out', where we will be learning about emotions! This week we used body language and facial expressions to show different emotions. Can you guess which emotions we are showing below?
Our Year 2 cohort have settled in well to Term 2. They are following all routines with confidence and enjoying reconnecting with their peers.
This week, they have been learning about 2D shapes. Students have identified shape names and their features, including sides and corners. They had the added challenge of drawing shapes on dot grids and square grid paper. They took their time to count the squares before drawing their straight-line segments. Students used Big 10 Number 9: Try hard even when it is challenging for this task. Check out their work below.
We are so proud of our Year 3 students for the wonderful way they presented their hard work on our novel study Max and the Millions at assembly. The students proudly held up their work and spoke beautifully, showing confidence, enthusiasm, and a deep understanding of the story. It was clear how much effort had gone into their learning, and it was a joy to see them share it so proudly with the school community! Well done Year 3!
The Grade 4s are excited to be back at school and have been thrilled to kick off our new class novel 'The Legend of Podkin One-Ear'. This exciting, non-linear story has already captured our imaginations with its unexpected twists and turns. We've read the first chapter and can’t wait to dive into the next, as the plot promises to be full of surprises.
In addition to enjoying the story, the students have been learning about how to enhance their writing and add detail with appositives. They have applied this technique in their writing, particularly in their paragraphs about the character of the Bard in 'Podkin One-Ear'.
Term 2 has started with great enthusiasm and energy from our Year 5 students! They've returned from the break refreshed and ready to learn, showing fantastic focus and a positive attitude in the classroom. It's been wonderful to see them engaging actively in lessons, working well together, and setting clear goals for the term ahead. We're especially proud of their efforts in starting to read our new novel called Tom's Midnight Garden, and their eagerness to participate in their Science project based on Endangered Animals. With such a strong start, we're looking forward to a productive and enjoyable term!
In the spirit of our English focus on poetry, please enjoy a poem to celebrate the first few weeks of Term 2 in Year 6!
We’re back in Term Two, excited to learn,
With poems and verses at every turn.
Our Poetry Slam is coming up fast,
It's on May 22nd—we’re set to blast!
We’ve started a novel, deep and sincere,
Telling a story we all need to hear.
It links with Humanities, helping us see
The truth of the past and who we should be.
