Visual Arts โ Welcome Back!
It has been wonderful to see all our students back at school, ready for an exciting year ahead. In Visual Arts this week, students have been learning about the element of art, line and exploring how it can be used in different ways to create interesting artworks.
Foundation, Year 1 and 2 students have been getting to know the rules, routines, and expectations of the art room. They also received their Visual Arts and mindfulness book, which they decorated to make their own personalised front cover.
Year 3 and 4 students created an abstract self-portrait by using a photo of themselves and transforming it with different types of lines and repeated patterns.
Year 5/6 students began creating a pop art self-portrait. They made a transfer print of their own photograph onto watercolour paper and personalised their artwork by cutting out magazine letters to form words that describe their own character traits.
Ms Zehra and I would also like to congratulate Year 6 student Holly Flanagan on her Visual Arts Captain position. Holly created a beautiful artwork over the holidays and gifted it to us, which is now proudly displayed in the art room.
We are looking forward to working with all students this year and seeing the wonderful artworks they will produce for our end-of-year Art Show.

PEย
ย
This year each class will participate in one PE session per week.ย
The PE program started this week where students were introduced to the expected behaviours and expectations when participating in PE classes. We played a number of minor games to introduce the expectations which has a key focus on listening to the whistle and instructions and waiting for the magic PE word โGoโ before they start following the instructions.
ย
Next week, all students will be provided with a hockey session from members of Southern United Hockey Centre (Kingston Reserve). They are here to promote the sport of hockey, as well as promote their club. They have a come and try day at the club coming up. More details will be out in the next newsletter, or you can check out their website.ย
Well done everyone on making such a great and positive start to the new year, Iโm looking forward to working with everyone throughout the year.

Interschool Sports
Interschool sports starts on Friday 6th February. This competition is for students in years 5 and 6 and we have entered students in multiple sports for term 1. These include Hot Shots Tennis, Teeball and Volleyball.ย
Our first game is against Christway. Details of the results will be published in each fortnightly newsletter.
The focus of interschool sports is not about winning, but on social skills and participation. It is a great opportunity for students to work together outside of the classroom and forge stronger friendships.
It is always exciting for students, and we look forward to a great year ahead.

Libraryย
ย
Another year is starting in the library and these are some of the key events this term:
ย
Library Leader interviews will be held in Week 3, with regular library sessions beginning straight away every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday during recess.
ย
Our Story Dogs program is also recommencing and we are very excited to welcome three beautiful dogs and volunteers to Le Pageโs team this year.ย
ย
We are also starting strong in Term 1 with two huge Literacy focused events in theย Readathon (2-27th of March) and a book fair (23rd-27th of March).ย
This yearโs first fair will not be a Scholastic run event but a QBD fair which will support a local chain of stores instead of an international one. Our Scholastic Book Fair will be back right before Christmas in Term 4.ย
Keep your eyes on compass and the newsletter for more information.
ย
I am looking forward to working with leaders and our elected captains for Term 1.ย
ย
I will go on maternity leave after the first week in Term 2. We are right now in the process of choosing my cover, and I am sure they will have amazing ideas to make the library an even better place for the rest of 2026.
ย
As always, thank you all for your support, and keep on reading!
