From the Teachers 

Welcome to a brand-new school year in Year 5 and 6! We are excited to get started and are looking forward to a busy and rewarding term ahead. The team consists of Mr Duckett in 5/6A, Ms Jenkinson in 5/6B and Ms Dragatsikas in 5/6C, along with our fantastic aides, Mr Nick, Miss Matilda and Ms Katie.

In the classroom, we have begun reading The Callers, which will be the focus of our adventure narrative unit. Students will be exploring the themes and characters in depth and using the text as inspiration for their own narrative writing. We will be working on developing strong story structures, engaging openings, and detailed descriptions.

In Mathematics, our key focus this term is strengthening multiplication skills and building the students operations knowledge. Students will be practising their multiplication times tables regularly, as these are an essential foundation for many areas of maths learning throughout the year.

This term is already shaping up to be a full one. Students will be taking part in interschool sports, giving them the opportunity to build teamwork, resilience, and school spirit while representing our school with pride. Our first game is today against Christways.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we begin the year together. Please encourage your child to read regularly at home and to practise their times tables whenever possible. We are looking forward to a fantastic year of learning, growth, and achievement. Homework starts next week with a fun ‘what can you live without?’ challenge.
