Yard Supports & Student Engagement

We’ve made several adjustments this term to ensure students feel safe, supported and connected during recess and lunch:

  • More leaders in the yard to increase visibility and support
  • Education Support staff providing one-to-one active supervision and support for students in the yard
  • Help Hub, a student‑led station offering low‑level assistance (e.g., finding a friend, choosing an activity)
  • Consistent teacher supervision, with staff rostered to the same areas to build familiarity and relationships
  • ES supervision in key areas, including toilets, to ensure safe and appropriate use
  • Quiet Club and the Wellbeing Room open for students who prefer calm, structured spaces

We also have a number of students participating in the Iron Champions program, a wellbeing initiative that helps young people build resilience, confidence and healthy habits through physical activity, teamwork and goal‑setting. It focuses on developing persistence, self‑belief and positive routines — skills that support learning and social success.

Harmony Week

Harmony Week 2026 was celebrated in many forms across the school this term. In classrooms, students read and engaged with a variety of mentor texts throughout the week. They learnt about inclusion and celebrations around the world.

On the Friday, all of our Year Six Cohort participated in a leadership opportunity where they presented to a younger year level about how important it is to stand up to racism. We are so proud of how the students embraced this opportunity, and you can read more in the Year Six slideshow in this newsletter.

We would like to give a special shout out to our Inclusion Captains, Charlie and Charlotte who led many of these items! Our assembly was full of crafted Harmony Hands, with a pledge to stand up against racism.

Project Rockit

In Week 9, year 4, 5 and 6 students participated in the Project Rockit incursion around bullying and upstanding. The students were engaged in discussion around appropriate strategies and were guided around how to support each other. They engaged with content around help-seeking behaviours and how to help out their peers when things go wrong.

Help Hub

Our new Help Hub is in full swing! Our Helping Hands leaders, Dela and Mackenzie, have done a great job of setting up our new Help Hub. Students can find Help Hub in the yard (on the OSHC deck) during lunch and recess. It is a place where students can come if they are not sure what to do, need help to find their friends, need a hand with a small problem or need an umpire for a game. We have already helped 76 students in the short time it has been open!
