Bill Turner Cup & Trophy

The U15 Boys team prepared thoroughly for their visit to Galen, anticipating a challenging first-round match in this year’s Bill Turner Cup.

Trinity began the game with a compact midfield structure, aiming to suppress Galen’s key players while capitalising on quick transitions forward. This approach proved effective from the outset, with Trinity taking an early lead.

Maintaining control for much of the match, Trinity executed their game plan with discipline and consistency. Despite Galen’s efforts, they were unable to break through Trinity’s high press. A commanding 5–0 lead at half time reflected Trinity’s dominance.

The momentum continued into the second half, with substitutions having little impact on the flow of the game, as Trinity extended their lead to secure a comprehensive 10–0 victory.

Up front, Jack Steinhauser and Victor Wang led the attack superbly, each scoring three goals before being rested. Additional goals came from Ollie McMillan (Year 7), Harvey Maddern, Chase Rayner, along with an own goal.

The next round promises to be a tougher contest, with Trinity set to face a strong Xavier side.

The U15 Girls team prepared for a challenging Bill Turner Cup fixture against Galen; aware they would be facing a strong and well-organised opposition in the opening round.

Trinity began the match working hard to stay compact and disciplined, while still looking to transition quickly into attack. Despite creating several promising attempts at goal in the first half, Trinity was unable to convert their chances. Galen applied sustained pressure and capitalised on their opportunities, resulting in a tough 4 - 0 scoreline at half time.

Co-coaches Erika Young and Stamatina Kamberos delivered calm and positive messages at half-time, encouraging the girls to maintain belief, lift their intensity, and focus on effort rather than the score. The response was immediate. Trinity returned to the field with renewed grit and determination, displaying greater cohesion by covering one another and confidence in their attacks across the pitch.

The second half became a strong display of character. Trinity tightened defensively with a standout performance by Yozora Hooper and refused to concede another goal. Captain Anabelle Spinelli led from the front, scoring Trinity’s first goal with a confident finish that lifted belief across the team. Babina Bhujel followed with a standout individual effort, attacking the open space, breaking through the defence solo and finishing with composure.

While the 4 - 2 result brings Trinity’s participation in the Bill Turner Cup to an end, the way the girls responded in the second half was a powerful reflection of their resilience and teamwork. The performance provided clear positives to take forward and was a strong indication of the group’s character and growth as a team.
