College Principal Report

As we wrap up Term 1, it’s a great time to reflect on what has been a productive and exciting start to the 2026 school year. As a school, we set out to focus on improving in a clear and purposeful way, and this term has shown what we can achieve when we stay focused and work together.
There’s a lot to be proud of!
Across the College, students have been engaging in new learning opportunities and experiences designed to support both their learning and future pathways. Senior students have taken part in new Verification Tests, helping teachers to track their progress and identify areas for growth early. Meanwhile, students across Years 7–9 have been building their literacy and numeracy skills through targeted ‘NAPLAN skills’ classes each fortnight, ‘booster sessions’ for Year 9 students and whole-school learning activities like Pi Week to raise the profile of Numeracy.
We’ve also continued to strengthen how we learn in the classroom. Teachers have been focusing on making lessons engaging and purposeful, ensuring every student is supported to succeed. This aligns with our new Teaching and Learning model which was established last year and being embedded throughout 2026.
A major highlight this term has been the opening of the new Vocational Centre at Banksia Campus. Year 10 Applied Learning students are now attending weekly VET courses, giving them valuable hands-on experience and helping them explore future career pathways.
There have also been many opportunities beyond the classroom. Our student leaders and Student Voice groups have been busy organising events such as Valentine’s Day fundraising, which raised an incredible $937 for charity, as well as House activities and leadership events.
Harmony Day was once again a highlight of the term, and something our whole school community can be incredibly proud of. The positive energy and strong sense of belonging felt across both campuses doesn’t just happen, it’s something that has been built over time and is now a big part of who we are as a College. Each year, the celebrations continue to grow, and our VCE-VM students consistently find new ways to make the day even better. Their creativity and teamwork were on full display, helping to create a vibrant and inclusive celebration of diversity. Harmony Day is a great reminder of what makes our school so special!

Our connections with the wider community have continued to grow. We’ve welcomed primary school students through our High Abilities Outreach Program, supported local schools through events like cross country, and showcased our College at Open Nights.
Our Year 12 VCE-VM students have been developing valuable real-world skills through their Barista training, and it’s been fantastic to see them already putting these into action. From serving coffee at our Open Nights to serving staff at Breakfast Club, students have demonstrated confidence and professionalism. They will also be bringing these skills to our upcoming Parent Teacher Interviews, where they will continue to serve coffee!
We’ve also made improvements to our facilities, including upgrades to the Acacia Campus administration area, helping create a more welcoming environment for students, staff and families.
Importantly, we’ve continued to build a safe, supportive and inclusive school. This includes strengthening our wellbeing and inclusion supports and continuing to invest in programs and staff that support all learners.
Thank you to all students for your involvement and commitment throughout the term. Whether it’s in the classroom, on the sporting field, in performances or through leadership opportunities, your contribution makes our school a great place to be.
Enjoy a well-earned break! We look forward to another fantastic term ahead!
