Celebration of Learning Lessons:
- Prep A: In English, we have been learning about plants. In this lesson, parents will be able to discuss the seasons with their child and make a collage of what a tree would look like in the chosen season.
- Prep B: In Science, Preps have been learning about the parts of a plant and the life cycle. During the Celebration of Learning lesson, students will be able to draw their own plant with all the parts.
- Prep C: In Humanities, the students have been learning about their local community and roles different occupations play in contributing to a happy, safe community. During the Celebration of Learning lesson, students will think about what job they might like to do when they’re older and how this will help the community.
- Prep D: In English, we have been learning about plants. In this lesson, parents will be able to discuss the seasons with their child and make a collage of what a tree would look like in the chosen season.
Year 1

Homework Expectations
- Mathseeds: 1 lesson per week (a new week begins on Sunday)
- Reading: 10-15 minutes, 4 nights per week
- Diaries: Please ensure diaries are brought to school every day.
Charged iPads
Please support your child to bring a fully charged device to school each day. This ensures they are remaining on track with important learning activities.
Library
Our library day is Friday for all classes. Please ensure your child brings their book bag each week to allow the opportunity to borrow.
Celebration of Learning Lessons:
- In Year 1 this term, we have been wearing our investigator hats as we explore our Blast from the Past unit through a Geologist lens in our English lessons. Following our wonderful Dinosaur Diggers Day, we are excited to welcome you into the classroom, where you will work alongside your child to create their own dinosaur and explain how its body parts help it survive in its chosen habitat!
Year 2

Celebration of Learning Lessons:
- In Year 2 this term, we have been learning about rainforests in Humanities, including the different rainforest layers, plants, and animals that live within them. Students have begun creating their own shoebox rainforests, starting with the forest floor layer. During our Celebration of Learning, families will be invited to help continue building the rainforest by creating the remaining layers and adding features such as trees, vines, plants, water sources, logs and rocks. We look forward to welcoming our families into the classroom to support this creative and hands-on learning experience!
Year 3

Homework Expectations
Students are expected to achieve between 200-1000 points on Mathletics each week. It is recommended for this to be completed by Wednesday.
In addition to this, students are expected to complete 20 minutes of independent reading. Each entry must be signed. Students are to bring their diaries every day and place them on their name tags. Their diaries will be checked on a Monday morning.
In-Visits and Excursion Consent
It would be greatly appreciated if consent could be given as soon as possible for our Reptile Encounters, Legoland, Pyrography and Swimming events. Consent for all excursions and in-visits can be accessed on Compass. If you need any support with consent, please see you child's teacher.
Celebration of Learning Lessons:
- In Maths, the Year 3 students have been learning about Fractions. We have been recognising and naming fractions. Join us during our Celebration of Learning as we explore this concept through making an artwork. Take part in an activity where you can help your child to colour in a kite and name the fractions of those colours.
Year 4

- Mathletics Homework: We are working towards a goal of 100% of Year 4 students completing their 200-1000 points by Friday morning.
- Reading: Students need to be reading for 30 minutes, 4 or more days per week. Please check in that they are reading in their AR range.
- Diaries: Thank you for your support in reminding students to bring their diary to school each day. Parent signatures are only needed by a Friday.
- AR Targets: By the end of Week 5, we are aiming for all students to achieve 60% of their points target. Our comprehension target is always 85%.
- Library days: 4A & 4B Wednesday, 4C Tuesday. In Week 6, 4C will go to the Library on Wednesday.
Celebration of Learning Lessons:
In Maths, the Year 4 students have been learning about multiplication. We look forward to welcoming families into our classrooms to play a game against their child in which our students (and guests!) will be able to show off their growing times tables skills. Make sure your Maths brains are switched on and ready to go!
EcoCentre Excursion:
- Students will not be at school for lunch on this day. Please ensure they have a packed lunch and water bottle.
- Thank you to those families who have provided consent on Compass for their child to attend. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you need any help with this.

Year 5
Reminders
- AR Targets: Students should now be 50% or higher towards completing their AR target. Keep up the fantastic reading at home!

- As Swimming Week approaches, now is a great time to check that your child has their bathers and swimming gear ready to make a splash at MSAC!
Celebration of Learning Lessons:
- In Science, Year 5 students have begun the early stages of their endangered animals project by working collaboratively with their partner or group and deciding on an animal to focus on. Each week, students will complete a different task in preparation for presenting their learning to the wider school community during the Week 10 expo. This week, students are focusing on creating an informative booklet about their chosen animal. Parents are invited to support their child’s group with this booklet by asking questions about the animal and helping students decipher which information is most important to include. Don’t forget to check out your child’s work displayed on the walls!

Reminders:
Swimming Week
A friendly reminder to please provide swimming consent via Compass as soon as possible. Parent volunteers are warmly welcomed, please reach out to a Year 6 teacher if you are interested in helping throughout the week.
Swimming will run from Monday 1 June to 5 Friday June. We aim to leave school at approximately 10:00am and return by 11:45am each day.
Students may be hungrier than usual throughout the week as they will be working hard during their swimming sessions. We ask to keep that in mind when packing their lunch. Students are welcome to wear their PE uniform all week to make changing easier. Most students like to wear their bathers under their uniform in the morning to make things quicker when we arrive. We look forward to a fantastic week of swimming!
Celebration of Learning Lessons:
- In Year 6, students have explored Australia’s history, learning this term about the Frontier Wars and the Stolen Generation. Today, we will introduce students to a number of inspiring Aboriginal Australians that have paved the way in sports, music and more. Students will use what they know in future lessons to create a poster about a person of their choice. Parents are invited to join their child in a Scavenger Hunt around the classroom to collect important facts about these motivating individuals.
