Year 9- Tassie Camp

Tassie Camp
Last Monday 40 students and 4 teachers awoke bright and early to fly to Tasmania for the week-long Year 9 Tassie Camp. We were blessed with fantastic weather which allowed us to explore the beautiful Tasmanian landscape without fear of rain.
Together we embarked on a few nature walks seeing the Russell Falls, the Huon Valley, and Mt Wellington. Luckily, this year Mt Wellington was willing to show us the spectacular view, rather than the pure grey fog we’ve caught the last 2 years.
Of course, there was some R&R as we watched Project Hail Mary and battled it out at Zone Bowling in the evenings.
On the way to Port Arthur, we got the chance to explore some natural coastal landscapes such as the Tessellated Pavement and the Blow Hole. Some brave souls were even willing to try Scallop Pie, a local Tasmanian delicacy!
Having just missed the 30th anniversary of the Port Arthur massacre, students were incredibly respectful exploring this amazing historical site and participating in the Ghost Tours.
Sadly, as the week came to an end, everyone prepared for the long 12-hour journey home on the Spirit of Tasmania. After a very calm night on the water, we got up just in time to watch the gorgeous sunset and travel back home for a much-needed rest! What a fantastic week it was.
