On Monday 23 March, our Year 1 students enjoyed a fantastic incursion led by Ranger Jamie. The day kicked off with an interactive introduction and an engaging talk about the unique animals found across Australia.
Students then split into class groups to rotate through hands-on activities. They built and decorated their very own birdhouses and scouted the grounds for sticks, leaves and bark to construct sturdy animal shelters. Things got a little messy—and very fun—when students used household items like cooking oil, soap and sunscreen to learn about its effects on our waterways. Finally, the young explorers headed out for some bug catching and identification right here on school grounds.
It was an unforgettable day of learning, and we already can't wait for our next visit from the Ranger team!

Forget the digital age; Year 8 recently went back to print—literally. In a hands-on exploration of Japanese history, students swapped their pens for old newspapers and masking tape to create full-scale Samurai outfits. From pleated shoulder guards to towering helmets, the craftsmanship on display was headline-worthy.

Tensions were high heading into the Staff vs Year 12 showdown. The staff team wasted no time, hitting off before Year 12 were fully set and capitalising with four quick home runs.
By the end of the first inning, the staff had surged ahead with 12 home runs.
When Year 12 stepped up to bat, they found their rhythm but had a shaky start, finishing the inning with 6 runs.In the final inning, the staff added another 7 runs, taking their total to 19. Year 12 came out swinging with serious determination, smashing 12 runs and closing the gap to just a single point. The staff held on for the win - but only just.
Despite the narrow loss, Year 12 had a great time, brought plenty of energy, and kept the game entertaining for everyone.
A big thank you to Michael for umpiring, and to Layla R & Belle for DJing and commentating.

Last Tuesday, three teams of students competed in the Kid's Lit Quiz at Cedars Christian College in Wollongong. This competition is a quiz about all things books - titles, authors, series, characters, plot twists...
All our teams did well on the day, bringing home books as prizes. However the team of Noah G and Will A (Year 8) and Noah B and Sam K (Year 6) won the heat. Since then we have had news that they have made it to the National Final to be held at the State Library in May.
Congratulations to all involved and especially to the four who will represent the school in May.

On Tuesday afternoon, our Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 students came together to take part in our exciting AFL gala day session.
The AFL coaches (Peter, Hollie and Sienna) and the AMAZING Year 6 students (along with Mr Parker) guided us through a time of fun, fitness and football.
In no time at all, our children were kicking, running, hand balling, chasing, throwing and playing … 11 different activities, designed to introduce and practice so many different skills.
We were so proud of our K-2 students! They listened carefully, followed instructions quickly and readily joined in.
This fabulous afternoon was made possible by our Year 6 helpers, Mrs Thuaux, Mr Parker and all the K-2 staff. Thank you for helping us have such a wonderful time.
Well done, everyone.

Congratulations to Sophia (Year 7)!
Sophia proudly represented NCS at the CSSA Secondary State Swimming Carnival held at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre - our only NCS Secondary swimmer at the event.
It was a fantastic opportunity for her to represent the South Coast region and compete in a much larger field of athletes. She rose to the challenge beautifully, finishing:
This is an outstanding achievement and a testament to her hard work, courage, and commitment. Well done, Sophia - we’re incredibly proud of you.

Last Friday night Mrs Dobson graduated from her training at the St Phillips Teaching School in Newcastle. Her graduation was a celebration of two years of intensive study as Mrs Dobson completed her Masters degree in Teaching.
Mrs Dobson began as a teacher trainee at Nowra Christian School in 2024. Being a trainee teacher involved completing university study while working one day a week alongside a mentor teacher. Mrs Dobson is a blessing to our school and it was wonderful to celebrate her graduation with her.
