Nude Food

Hello families,

We are your year 6 Community Leaders. We've been starting up Nude Food again and introducing composting in the classrooms.

Nude Food Tuesdays

On Tuesdays, starting next week, we would be grateful if you sent your kid to school with no wrappers or throw away things. We understand if you can't - just do your best. Every Tuesday, your child's teacher will do a survey to see how many students have Nude Food.

What IS Nude Food? Food in reusable containers (plastic or metal), pouches, cutlery, and drink bottles - no throw-away plastic or foil!

Paper bags are fine. Dirty paper bags should get ripped up and put in the classroom compost containers. Clean and empty paper bags can go in the blue recycling bin.

WHY are we doing Nude Food again? To reduce plastic and single-use plastics and waste, making our school more sustainable and clean.

The winning class of the Nude Food challenge will win a plastic-free morning tea of hot chips and fruit platters at the end of the year.

New classroom compost bins

We have introduced compost collection buckets in each double class to ensure that compostable things aren't sent to landfill.

Food in landfill (red bins) creates methane gas which damages our climate, like fossil fuels, causing climate change.

We are only collecting fresh fruit and vegetable scraps in our school compost bins which are better for our school garden.

Please tell your child to keep other food scraps in their lunchboxes and then put them in the green-lidded bins at home.
