Woorabinda Camp 

Woorabinda Camp Recount by Aria Dench

The morning of camp I was waiting patiently for my friends down at the bus stop, it was cold though. As my friends started to arrive I decided I would hangout with them as I waited. Then we got onto the bus. As we got off the bus after maybe a one hour drive some of the camp instructors were there. We went for a muddy, long walk through the rain forest and I slipped maybe once but it wasn’t that bad. We started cooking over a fire that we started ourselves. It kept going out but we worked through it and some of us kept getting smoke in our eyes. I was in a group of five or six. The camp staff explained cooking our lunch like life boats. It was a lot of fun.

We started walking back to the campground and I walked inside with my bags and down to my room. As we were unpacking, my roommate was trying to figure out how to get her sheet on the bed. I helped and we ended up doing it properly.  

We then went to an assembly with camp leader Diamond and another camp instructor Razor. They had a really catchy school song and it made me want to dance. They started talking about rules, places we would be going, popular activities and duty groups.

For dinner we had amazing service from the blue group. They helped clean tables, take plates and more. It was a very nice meal. I didn’t have much. I then walked back to my room to get ready for the night hike. While we were walking it got really slippery and I fell alot. When we finished the walk I was really tired. I got in my pjs and got comfy. Finally after a girls dorm meeting I snuggled into my bed and fell asleep.

On day 2 I woke up in the morning to girls screaming, laughing and talking. I got up, got dressed and went outside. I went up to a friend’s dorm and we chatted for a while until we headed off to breakfast. I ate my breakfast fast and then we headed to assembly. I still love the school song because it’s unique and special. After we headed to the flying fox and then we then went to high ropes. I got scared and started feeling really sick and my head hurt so I went down. We ate lunch then went on to our next activities. I did maze, rock wall and billy carts. It was super fun. 

We went to dinner and I was on duty group. I ate fast then had to clean up. Then we watched a movie called Goat. It was really cool. After the movie we went to sleep.

On day 3 I woke up and got dressed. We went to breakfast and it was delicious. We went canoeing. Next we went to the farm. My favourite animal was Cosmo. She was so cute. She was one of the cows. We went back for lunch and then got on the bus. After we got off the bus we went up and my mum was there to pick me up.

Camp was really fun and I wish I could stay longer.
